Hometown of Craftsmen Leisure Agricultural Area Introduction
The Hometown of Craftsmen Leisure Agricultural Area is located in Dajia District, which was once the birthplace of the sedge weaving craftsmen, hence its name. It is the only coastal leisure agricultural area in Taichung City, bordering the Taiwan Strait, and it houses a rich agricultural and fishing culture as well as diverse natural ecology. The coastline features rocky beaches where visitors can enjoy beautiful sunsets. The area is abundant in shellfish, migratory birds, fiddler crabs, water caltrop, and intertidal ecology, complemented by swaying sunflowers, delicious creative taro dishes, and fun-filled village experiences. Moreover, local cultural features such as sedge weaving and agricultural specialty products, including Dajia taro, provide opportunities for hands-on experiences and DIY creations, making it a perfect destination for agricultural experiences and environmental education day trips. The area is easily accessible via the West Coast Expressway. Visitors are welcome to come to the Hometown of Craftsmen to learn and experience the different seasons of Dajia, recollect childhood memories, experience rural charm, appreciate the beauty of agriculture and fishing, and enjoy a happy lifestyle.
The Hometown of Craftsmen Leisure Agricultural Park is the origin of Dajia straw mats. In early times, community mothers wove sedge to supplement household income, creating the hometown of sedge weaving craftsmen. The area also has farms where experience courses and traditional sedge weaving shows are planned, allowing visitors to experience the mystery of Dajia straw mat weaving from sedge production to weaving.
The Hometown of Craftsmen area features sunflower fields throughout the year, making visitors feel as though they are in a beautiful garden in Europe, with the sun shining brightly and romantic sea breezes brushing past as the most beautiful flowers bloom.
Each farm has its own unique oven, providing space, local ingredients, and tools for farm-style baking experiences. Visitors can reminisce about early rural baking while tasting local dishes made from farm-fresh ingredients.
