Hometown of Craftsmen Leisure Agriculture Area Introduction
The Hometown of Artisans Leisure Agricultural Area is located in Dajia District and is the birthplace of traditional rush weaving craftsmen, hence the name "Hometown of Artisans." It is the only coastal leisure agricultural area in Taichung City, bordering the Taiwan Strait. It possesses rich agricultural, fishing culture, and natural ecology. The coastline features rocky beaches that offer beautiful sunset views, and the rich intertidal ecosystem includes shellfish, migratory birds, horseshoe crabs, water caltrop, and more. Along with sunflowers swaying in the wind, delicious creative dishes made from taro, and fun farming experiences, visitors can enjoy the local cultural highlights of rush weaving, agricultural specialty products, Dajia taro, and opportunities for DIY experiences and creations. This area is perfect for a one-day agricultural experience and environmental education. The leisure area has convenient transportation, with the Western Coastal Expressway leading directly here. We welcome you to "Hometown of Artisans" to experience the different seasons of Dajia, relive childhood memories, experience rural charm, appreciate the beauty of agriculture and fishing, and enjoy a leisurely time.
The Hometown of Artisans Leisure Agricultural Area is the birthplace of Dajia straw mats. In the early days, community mothers wove rushes to supplement their household income, making this area the home of rush weaving masters. There are also farms offering experiential courses and traditional rush weaving shows, where you can see the secrets of Dajia straw mat weaving from the production to the weaving process.
In the Hometown of Artisans, you can see sunflower fields all year round, making you feel like you are in a beautiful garden in Europe, with the radiant sunlight and romantic sea breeze blooming the most beautiful flowers.
Each farm has its unique kiln, providing space, local ingredients, and tools to recreate the early rural baking experience. You can savor traditional rural flavor dishes.
