Hometown of Craftsmen Leisure Agricultural Area Introduction
The Hometown of Craftsmen Leisure Agricultural Area is located in Dajia District, the birthplace of traditional rush weaving craftsmen, hence the name "Hometown of Craftsmen." It is the only coastal leisure agricultural area in Taichung City, bordering the Taiwan Strait, and contains rich agricultural and fishery culture as well as natural ecology. The seaside features rocky beaches where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets, with abundant marine life such as shellfish, migratory birds, fiddler crabs, and coastal ecosystem flora. The area is also known for its swaying sunflowers, delicious creative dishes made from taro, and fun rural kiln experiences, alongside local cultural characteristics of rush weaving, agricultural products, Dajia taro, DIY experiences, and creative activities, making it ideal for a day trip focusing on agricultural experiences and environmental education. The leisure area is easily accessible via the Western Expressway, and everyone is welcome to visit the "Hometown of Craftsmen" to learn about and experience the different seasons of Dajia, relive childhood memories, enjoy rural scenery, appreciate the beauty of agriculture and fishery, and enjoy a leisure-filled time.
The Hometown of Craftsmen Leisure Agricultural Park is the origin of Dajia straw mats. In the early days, community mothers used rush weaving to supplement household income, which became the hometown of rush weaving craftsmen. The area also has farms that offer experiential courses and traditional rush weaving shows, allowing you to personally experience the mysteries of Dajia straw mat weaving from the making of rushes to weaving.
Throughout the year, you can see fields of sunflowers in the Hometown of Craftsmen area, making you feel like you are in a beautiful European garden. Under the bright sun and romantic sea breeze, the most beautiful flowers bloom.
Each farm has its own unique kiln, providing space, local ingredients, and tools. From burning wood to opening the kiln for meals, you can relive the early rural heritage and taste local delicacies from the countryside.
