Dongshi Forestry Culture Park Introduction
The park was originally established as "Taiwan Dasyueshan Forest Company" to develop the forest resources of Dasyueshan. It housed the largest sawmill in East Asia during the 1960s and was the first in Taiwan to introduce American-style integrated operations. The park is located at the starting point of Provincial Highway 8 (about 2.3 kilometers in), next to the National Dongshi Senior Industrial Vocational School, making it a key passage to Guangu, Baxianshan, and Dasyueshan National Forest Recreation Area. It serves as a diverse recreational and environmental education site, combining natural ecology, preservation of forestry industrial history, and wooden sculpture art exhibitions. It is also the best spot for lotus viewing in central Taiwan during summer. Currently, free admission is offered.
