貯木池

The park was formerly known as the "Daxueshan Forestry Company," which was the largest sawmill in East Asia during the 1960s. It was the first facility in Taiwan to introduce American-style integrated operations and established a demonstrative forestry industry in Taiwan, driving the prosperity of the Taichung mountain city area. After the forestry company ceased operations, the park has preserved some precious historical sites related to the forestry industry. The log pond has transformed into an ideal habitat for migratory birds, insects, and other animals, showcasing the trend of transitioning from resource development to ecological conservation in forestry culture. In summer, the pond is adorned with blooming lotus flowers, making it the best spot for lotus viewing in central Taiwan. To cherish natural resources, the park has invited domestic and international masters to create uniquely styled wooden sculptures using driftwood collected over the years. Through the innovative carving techniques of the wood sculptors, the driftwood is given new life and sustainability, shaping the park into a distinctive ecological aesthetics park for wood carving.
