Dongshi Forestry Culture Park Introduction
The park was formerly known as the Taiwan Daxue Mountain Forestry Co., Ltd., established to develop the forest resources of Daxue Mountain. It housed the largest sawmill in East Asia during the 1960s and was the first in Taiwan to introduce American-style integrated operations. The park is located at the starting point of Provincial Highway 8 (approximately 2.3 kilometers in) next to National Dongshi Senior Industrial Vocational School, serving as a gateway to Guanyuan, Baxianshan, and Daxueshan National Forest Recreation Area. It offers a diverse environment for recreation and environmental education, combining natural ecology, the preservation of the history of the forest products industry, and displays of wood sculpture art. Additionally, it is the best spot in central Taiwan for lotus viewing during the summer. Currently, free admission is available for visitors.
