Dongshi Forest Culture Park Introduction
The park was formerly known as the "Taiwan Daxueshan Forestry Co., Ltd.," established to develop the forest resources of Daxueshan, and it housed the largest sawmill in East Asia during the 1960s. It was the first facility in Taiwan to introduce American-style integrated operations. The park is located at the starting point of Provincial Highway 8 (about 2.3 kilometers in), next to National Dongshi Senior Industrial Vocational School, and it is a necessary transit point for entering GuGuan, Baxianshan, and Daxueshan National Forest Recreation Area. It serves as a diversified recreational and environmental education space that combines natural ecology, preservation of forest industry history, and wood carving art exhibitions. Additionally, it is the best spot for lotus viewing in central Taiwan during the summer. Currently, free entry for visits is available.
