Dongshi Forestry Cultural Park Introduction
The park was originally established as "Taiwan Dasyueshan Forestry Co., Ltd." to develop the forest resources of Dasyueshan. It was home to the largest sawmill in East Asia during the 1960s and was the first facility in Taiwan to introduce American integrated operations. The park is located at the starting point of Taiwan Provincial Highway 8 (about 2.3 kilometers in), next to National Dongshi Senior Industrial Vocational School, making it a necessary stop for accessing Guguan, Baxianshan, and Dasyueshan National Forest Recreation Area. It offers a diverse space for recreation and environmental education, combining natural ecology, forestry industrial heritage preservation, and wood carving art exhibitions. It is also the best spot for lotus viewing in central Taiwan during summer, currently offering free admission for visitors.
