Chou-Teng-Keng Leisure Agricultural Area Introduction
The Chao Teng Keng Recreational Agricultural Area has been awarded the Thriving Award in the evaluation of recreational agricultural areas in 2018 and 2021. Located among the mountains, this area is home to the firefly, which is the most striking insect star, along with other common mountain insects. In recent years, there has been a vigorous promotion of firefly restoration, making it the region's highest-quality ecological resource. Thanks to the water sources from Chao Teng Keng and An Ying Keng creeks, the original forest in the mountains has been well-preserved, resulting in abundant natural ecology. Every April is the peak season for fireflies, creating a mesmerizing starry scene and serving as one of the ecological tourism highlights of the area. Visitors can enjoy a water park to cool off, observe fireflies at night, pick fresh fruits from orchards, shop for souvenirs at farmer's markets, and hike the An Ying Mountain Trail for breathtaking views of the mountains. Hidden in the mountain alleys, the area features seasonal natural beauty with daylilies and fireflies, resembling a dreamlike paradise. Baileng Canal was built during the Japanese colonial period to provide irrigation water needed for sugarcane cultivation on the Tainong plateau. The water diversion routes were constructed using natural engineering principles based on the terrain's elevation changes, making it a modern water conservancy engineering marvel. It integrates elements crucial to industrial economic development, the relationship between people and rivers, and aesthetic imagery, all while being closely related to the cultural history and natural ecology of the Xin She area. Key historical structures include the Baileng Canal water inlet, Chao Teng Keng siphon, and the Aishan branch suspension bridge. Themed tours include Sweet Floral Fun, Slow Living and Leisurely New She Tours, and DIY activities like herb tie-dye, ginger candy, and jam making. Crop productions feature white bitter melon, high-grafted pears, citrus fruits, sweet persimmons, grapes, loquats, daylilies, plums, sweet peaches, and shiitake mushrooms. Attractions include Baileng Canal, Frog Habitat, Xiaoxi Ecological Park, and Chao Teng Keng Waterside Park. 【Transportation Guide】 【By Car】Take National Highway 1 to National Highway 4 heading towards Dongshi, then turn right at the Taiwan Route 3 Fengshi Road after crossing Dongshi Bridge to enter Taiwan Route 8.
