Chén Sāngāng Táng is located at Sanjiao Street, Longdong Village, Longjing District. The exact construction date is unknown, but it was possibly established during the Jiaqing or Daoguang era by Chen Wenzhi, an immigrant from Zhangzhou. His three sons, Zongzui, Zongyang, and Zongjie, managed the family business, and the prosperity of the family led to the fame of the Chen residence, known as "Sāngāng Táng" in the local community.

Chen San-gang Hall Introduction

This residence is a three-section courtyard with two entrances, featuring dual guardian dragons on the left and right. It is primarily constructed of bricks, with some sections made of rammed earth, resulting in a spacious interior. In addition to the main entrance, there are side doors on the left and right guardian dragons. Due to years of neglect, extensive renovations have been undertaken, leading to the roofs of both wings being replaced with Japanese gray tiles, and the main hall's roof being replaced with Western-style red tiles. The traditional Min Nan bricks on the walls have also mostly been replaced with red bricks, significantly detracting from its original appearance. The descendants of the Chen family have largely developed their careers outside, producing notable figures such as township chiefs, county councilors, speakers, and medical doctors, and they remain a prominent family in the area.
