Chen Sangang Hall is located in Sanjiao Street, Longdong Village, Longjing District. The exact year of its construction is unclear, but it was likely founded during the Jiaqing or Daoguang eras by immigrant Chen Weni from Zhangzhou. His three sons, Zongzui, Zongyang, and Zongjie, managed the family affairs, leading to the prosperity of the family, and thus the Chen residence became known as "Sangang Hall" in the local area.

Chen San-gang Hall Introduction

This residence is a two-compound Sanheyuan, featuring dual dragon guardians on both sides, primarily constructed with bricks and interspersed with earthen materials, resulting in a spacious layout. In addition to the main entrance, there are side doors on both wings. Due to long-term neglect, significant renovations have been carried out, resulting in the roofs of the side wings being replaced with Japanese gray tiles, and the main hall's roof also being updated with Western-style red tiles. Moreover, many of the traditional Minnan bricks on the walls have been replaced with red bricks, which has considerably diminished its historical appearance. The descendants of the Chen family have mostly developed outside the area, with notable figures including township chiefs, county councilors, speakers, and medical doctors, yet they remain a prominent local gentry family.
