The Chen Sangan Hall is located in the triangular street in Longdong Village, Longjing District. The exact construction date is unclear, but it was possibly founded during the Jiaqing or Daoguang eras by Chen Wenzi, an immigrant from Zhangzhou. His three sons, Zongzui, Zongyang, and Zongjie, managed the family business, leading to the family's prosperity, and the Chen residence became known as the "Sangan Hall" in the local community.

Chen San Gang Hall Introduction

This residence is a two-courtyard three-section compound with double protective dragons on both sides, primarily constructed of brick and partially using earthen walls. The space is quite large, with side doors on both protective dragons in addition to the main entrance. Due to years of neglect, major renovations were made, resulting in the roofs of both wings being replaced with Japanese grey tiles, while the main hall was renovated with Western-style red tiles. Many of the traditional Fujian bricks on the walls have been replaced with red bricks, which has significantly altered its old appearance. The descendants of the Chen family have largely developed careers outside, including roles as township leaders, county councilors, speakers, and medical doctors, and they remain a prominent family in the local area.
