The Chen San Gang Hall is located in Sanjiao Street, Dongli Village, Longjing District. The exact year of construction is unclear, but it is believed to have been built during the Jiaqing to Daoguang periods by Chen Wengyi, an immigrant from Zhangzhou. His three sons, Zongzui, Zongyang, and Zongjie, managed the family estate, leading to the prosperity of the Chen residence, which became known as "San Gang Hall" in the local community.

Chen Sangong Hall Introduction

This residence features a two-entry three-section courtyard with double guardian dragons on both sides. It is primarily constructed of bricks, with some sections made of earth plaster, providing a spacious environment. In addition to the main entrance, there are side doors on both wings. Due to years of disrepair, extensive renovations have been undertaken, leading to the roofs of the two side wings being replaced with Japanese gray tiles, while the main hall's roof was updated with Western-style red tiles. Many of the walls' traditional Minnan bricks have also been replaced with red bricks, which has diminished its historical appearance. The descendants of the Chen family have mostly developed their careers outside, with notable figures such as township chiefs, county councilors, speakers, and medical doctors, but they remain a prominent local family.
