Lishui Fishing Port Introduction
Lishui Fishing Port, located at the southwestern tip of Taichung's Longjing District, is an excellent destination for sunset viewing and bird watching, as well as cycling along the sea. Originally a century-old fishing port that had experienced decline due to the construction of a nearby thermal power plant, fishing activities here have largely ceased, with only a few rubber rafts remaining. The abandoned coast guard station was ingeniously transformed into a Greek-style observation platform featuring blue and white colors, complemented by nearby cycling paths, making it a perfect spot for wedding photography, sunset viewing, bird watching, and leisurely bike rides by the sea. Lishui Fishing Port is one of the six major fishing ports in the Greater Taichung area, initially built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, situated by the mouth of Dadu River, leading to a resource-rich tidal ecosystem. During low tide, little crabs and other marine creatures can be seen in the mudflats. The peak bird watching season is from October to May of the following year, where a variety of bird species can be observed. As evening approaches, the sunset casts a warm glow on the sea surface, offering a natural beauty that rivals the scenic views of Gaomei Wetlands, attracting many photography enthusiasts to appreciate and capture the enchanting scenery, enjoying a leisurely day. The observation platform features a Mediterranean aesthetic with a blue and white architectural style, adorned with arches, fan windows, bells, and heart-shaped railings, creating a strong romantic atmosphere in this quaint fishing village of Lishui. This setting has become a favorite among tourists, who come to the platform for photo opportunities or to ride their bicycles along the port, savoring the sunset and enjoying a peaceful day, giving Lishui Fishing Port a chance to regain its former glory.
