Taiping Tobacco Shop Introduction
Taiping Tobacco Purchasing Station was built in 1955 as a site for the Tobacco and Alcohol Administration to evaluate and purchase tobacco leaves from farmers. Witnessing the development of Taiping's tobacco industry, it was officially registered as a historic building in 2013. After restoration, it has been planned into three exhibition areas: the local arts and cultural exhibition area; the Tobacco Interpretation Hall that introduces the history of the tobacco industry; and finally, the memorial hall displaying works of internationally renowned iron sculpture artist Chen Ting-Shih, creating a new venue that combines history and artistic culture.
