Taiping Cigarette Shop Introduction
Taipei Tobacco Market was built in 1955 as a place for the Public Utilities Corporation to assess and purchase tobacco leaves from farmers. Witnessing the development of Taiping's tobacco industry, it was designated as a historical building in 2013. After restoration, it has been planned with three main exhibition areas: one for local arts and culture, another for the history of the tobacco industry in the Tobacco Interpretation Hall, and finally a memorial area showcasing the works of internationally renowned iron sculpture artist Chen Ting-shih, creating a new space that combines history and art culture.
