Taiping Tobacco Shop Introduction
The Taiping Tobacco Purchase Station was established in 1955 as a site for the Tobacco and Alcohol Administration to assess and purchase tobacco leaves from farmers. It has witnessed the development of tobacco cultivation in Taiping and was designated as a historical building in 2013. After renovation, it has been planned to include three main exhibition areas: the first is a local arts and cultural exhibition area; the second is the Tobacco Interpretation Hall, which introduces the history of the tobacco industry; and the last area is a memorial space showcasing the works of internationally renowned iron sculpture artist Chen Ting-shih, creating a new venue that integrates history and artistic culture.
