Fort San Domingo Introduction
Xunfang Fort is hidden within a residential area, and even long-time residents of Tainan may not be aware of its existence, making it a very mysterious site. It is the only inland fort remaining in Tainan, located to the southeast of the East Gate. Its name is derived from the "Xun" position in the Eight Trigrams. The fort was built in 1836 using lava stone, and there is an inscription from the Qing Dynasty Daoguang period that reads "Xunfang Jingzhen" on top of the fort.
