Longshan Temple Introduction
Longshan Temple, located in the East District of Tainan, is one of the seven temples and eight shrines of the ancient city. It was built during the Kangxi period (1715 AD) using rock from the nearby area, outside the East Gate of the city. In 1778, Taiwanese governor Jiang Yuanshu allocated funds for the temple's reconstruction. However, during the Japanese occupation, the temple was dismantled to widen the road. After several renovations, the current structure is a reconstruction on the original site. The three-story temple still houses many ancient plaques and artifacts from the Qing Dynasty. Although it is no longer an old building from the Qing era, it still retains the atmosphere of an ancient temple.
