Chang Jung Senior High School for Girls is the earliest female educational institution in Taiwan, established in 1887, originally named Xinlou Girls' School. The only requirement for admission was that students should not have bound feet, yet only 19 students enrolled at that time, reflecting the low status of women in society during that period.
