Anping Haitian Societal Wei Residence Introduction
The Weizhai Residence in Haitou Village is the ancestral home of Wei Dayou, the deputy admiral of the Qing Dynasty Navy. Originally located in front of the Wenlong Temple in Haitou Village, it was rebuilt on its current site during the Taisho period of Japanese rule, with the orientation changed from east-west to north-south. The residence has a single-column layout, a common type of dwelling in the alleys of Anping. It is primarily a brick structure, with oyster lime on the walls, and features a hard gable roof resembling a horse's back. The entrance originally had a wall gate, but it has been damaged. The main hall is traditionally arranged, with a plaque above the door inscribed with "Jingxing Qingyun," and a small round archway on the left leads outside. To the east is mainly the bedroom, representing a very typical residential type in Anping. The single-column design has also become an element adopted in modern residential architecture. It is a must-visit historic residence for those exploring the alleys of Anping.
