Phoenix Suspension Bridge Introduction
The Phoenix Suspension Bridge spans over Zhuxi River and connects the ancient Zhuxi Temple and the Municipal Sports Park. Built in 1982, the bridge is approximately 25 meters long. Although it has a compact design, it harmonizes beautifully with the surrounding scenery. The origin of its name, Phoenix Suspension Bridge, is unclear; it may be related to Tainan being known as the City of Phoenix or the presence of phoenix trees nearby. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Zhuxi area was a popular site for scholars and poets from Tainan, featuring dense bamboo forests on both sides and a gently flowing stream, earning the nickname "Zhuxi Misty Rain."
