Dajia Wenchang Temple Introduction
Wanlong Temple, located in Gangqitou, Dajia Village, RenDe District, is situated at the back of the Erjen River, facing south and north. It is a five-gate, three-hall style temple covering an area of approximately 500 ping. In front of the temple, there are a pair of flagpoles, with a dragon and tiger facing each other. According to Taiwanese folk beliefs, this reflects the ancient political system where deities recognized by the Jade Emperor could establish flagpoles based on the traditional imperial examination system to display their dignity. The two royal deities enshrined in this temple belong to the royal rank and thus are eligible to raise flags. Having been conferred the title of the "Deity King of Heaven's Seven Circuits" by the Jade Emperor, they possess significant authority, and thus, the flagpoles can accommodate three sets, reaching a height of 6.6 meters, making them the tallest pair in Taiwan, and they are the only flagpoles made of concrete.
