Dahu Tomato Company Introduction
Located beside Provincial Highway 1 in Dahu Village, the Dahu Tomato Company was built during the Japanese colonial period and was a joint venture between Taiwan and Japan that exclusively produced tomatoes for export. After World War II, it was temporarily converted into a pineapple canning factory but later fell into disuse and has remained abandoned since. In the desolate factory area, a hundred-year-old royal poinciana tree has been planted, which bursts into vibrant red flowers each year. Although it silently stands alongside the weathered old chimney, it adds a unique beauty to the worn red brick and gray walls, creating a sense of solitude that often attracts travelers to pause and take photos. It has become one of the hidden cultural spots for light travel in Dahu.
