Daleige Bridge Introduction
Maolin District is located in the mountainous area of Kaohsiung, where the spectacular landscapes and indigenous culture are deeply intertwined with this beautiful land. Due to the damages caused by Typhoon Morakot in 2009, the access roads were severely affected. To ensure the safety of local residents and visitors, the De-le Ri-ka Bridge, costing NT$700 million, was completed in 2013. "De-le Ri-ka" means "Maolin" in the Rukai language. The bridge is 880 meters long, 10 meters wide, and has a maximum clearance height of 52 meters, making it the third highest prestressed box girder bridge in the country. Notably, the bridge's piers were strategically placed to avoid areas prone to erosion from the river's current, with the deepest foundation reaching 38 meters to withstand the rapid flow of the Zhuokou River. The elevated design of the bridge stands above the winding river and reflects the lush, layered mountains, harmonizing with the unique terrain of Maolin. It not only serves as a new landmark in the Maolin area but also won a gold medal in the finals of the "2013 Global International Low Carbon City Competition" organized by the United Nations Environment Programme.
