Zihashirashira Trail Introduction
The entrance to the Zisali Trail is located at the Purple Butterfly Ecological Park. You can reach the entrance by following the butterfly appreciation trail. Zisali means "an area with a lot of philodendrons" in the Rukai language. In the past, there were no names for the mountains, and the ancestors of the indigenous people used the trees or plants they saw growing in the area to name the place. The trail is 3.7 kilometers long, but currently only about 2.1 kilometers in the Maolin Ecological Park segment is open. This area is rich in bird and insect species and takes approximately 50 minutes to walk the entire trail. It is also an important gathering place for the purple butterfly during winter. Visitors who come to appreciate the butterflies and hike should not engage in over-collecting or destroy the habitat. It is recommended to stay for about 1.5 hours, and vehicles can be parked at the ecological park parking lot during the butterfly appreciation activities. Please do not damage the surrounding environment while enjoying the butterflies.
