Zihashih Trail Introduction

The entrance to the Zisali Trail is located at the Purple Butterfly Ecological Park. To reach the entrance, visitors must follow the butterfly viewing trail. "Zisali" is derived from the Rukai language, meaning "a place with a lot of water lilies". In the past, the mountains did not have names, and the ancestors of the indigenous people would use the names of trees or plants they encountered while farming in the mountains. The trail is 3.7 kilometers long, but currently only the section through the Maolin Ecological Park, approximately 2.1 kilometers, is open. This area is rich in bird species and insects, with a full walk taking about 50 minutes. It is also an important gathering place for the Purple Butterfly during winter. Visitors are reminded not to capture or destroy habitats while enjoying butterfly watching and hiking. It is advisable to spend about 1.5 hours here, and vehicles can be parked at the ecological park parking lot. Please avoid damaging the surrounding environment during butterfly viewing.
