Zisali Trail Introduction

The Zishali Trail entrance is located at the Purple Butterfly Ecological Park. The entrance can be reached by following the butterfly-watching path. "Zishali" means "an area with many torch lilies" in the Rukai language. In the past, there were no names for mountainous areas, and the ancestors of indigenous people would name locations based on the trees or plants they observed growing there. The trail is 3.7 kilometers long, but currently, only about 2.1 kilometers of the Maolin Ecological Park section is open. This area is rich in various species of birds and insects, and the entire walk takes about 50 minutes. It is also an important gathering spot for the common butterfly during winter. Visitors should avoid over-collecting and disturbing habitats while enjoying the butterflies and hiking. A recommended stay of about 1.5 hours is suggested, and vehicles can be parked at the ecological park parking lot. Please do not damage the surrounding environment while watching butterflies.
