Zihshanli Trail Introduction

The entrance to the Zisali Trail is located in the Purple Butterfly Ecological Park. To reach the entrance, visitors must follow the butterfly-watching trail. "Zisali" in the Rukai language means "an area with many sacred plants." In the past, there were no names for the mountains; indigenous ancestors named regions based on the trees or plants they saw growing in the area where they farmed. The trail is 3.7 kilometers long, but currently, only the 2.1-kilometer section in the Maolin Ecological Park is open. This area is rich in various species of birds and insects, and walking the entire trail takes about 50 minutes. It is also an important congregation site for the purple butterfly during wintering. Visitors should refrain from over-collecting and disturbing habitats while enjoying the butterfly-watching experience. It is recommended to spend about 1.5 hours here, and vehicles can be parked in the ecological park parking lot. Please do not damage the surrounding environment while observing the butterflies.
