Weiliao Mountain Hiking Trail Introduction

Weiliao Mountain Trail is located at the border of Sandimen Township in Pingtung County and Maolin District in Kaohsiung City, near Daqing Bridge, with an elevation of approximately 1,427 meters. There are two entrance points for the trail. The first starts from the industrial road next to Daqing Bridge, passing by "Jiyi Pavilion", where you can see the Laonong River towards Liugui and the Zhuokou River within Maolin. From there, you can climb to the viewpoint at an elevation of 1,150 meters, offering a distant view of Maolin and Wanshan Village. To reach the Triangle Peak, there is a long steep slope that requires using ropes, which makes it quite challenging. The second entrance is located at the 23.5K point of the Shaxi Forestry Road in Koushe. Starting from Shaxi Forestry Road, the landscape along the trail is beautiful, with rich flora and fauna. There are ecological interpretation signs along the way. This route is classified as a moderately difficult challenge, with a one-way distance of 9.3 kilometers and a total round-trip time of about 7 to 8 hours. Weiliao Mountain serves as a training base for hikers, and it is a high-challenge route for building strength, endurance, and willpower, earning the nickname "Little Hundred Peaks". It is recommended to spend half a day to a full day to complete the trail challenge, and you may bring trekking poles, gloves, and hiking shoes to adapt to the terrain changes. Make sure to prepare your gear and water supply, and check the weather conditions before setting out.
