Weiliao Mountain Hiking Trail Introduction
Weiliao Mountain Trail is located at the boundary of Sandimen Township in Pingtung County and Maolin District in Kaohsiung City, near Dajinqiao, with an elevation of approximately 1,427 meters. There are two trailheads for this mountain climb. The first starts from an industrial road next to Dajinqiao, passing by the Jiyi Pavilion, where you can see the Laonong River towards Liugui and the Zhuokou River within Maolin. You can then ascend to a viewpoint at 1,150 meters, offering a panoramic view of Maolin and Wanshan Village. To reach the triangular peak, you must navigate a long steep slope that requires the use of ropes, making it quite challenging. The second trailhead is located at 23.5K of the Shaxi Forest Road in Koushe. Starting from Shaxi Forest Road, the scenery along the way is beautiful, and the flora and fauna are abundant. Ecological interpretation signs are set up along the trail. This route is considered a moderately high-level challenge, with a one-way distance of 9.3 kilometers and a total round-trip time of approximately 7-8 hours. Weiliao Mountain serves as a training ground for hikers, providing a challenging route for improving physical strength, endurance, and perseverance, and is known as a "minor hundred peaks." It is recommended to spend half a day to a full day to complete the trail challenge. Hikers should bring trekking poles, gloves, and hiking shoes to adapt to the changing terrain, and ensure proper equipment and hydration. Please pay attention to weather conditions before setting off.
