Changhua Christian Hospital History Development Museum Introduction
For over 120 years, the Changhua Christian Hospital has been the cornerstone of medical technology development and church growth in central Taiwan, witnessing significant changes that required the participation of many missionaries to expand the overall foundation. During this time, numerous stories of love have unfolded, particularly the well-known historical account of "empathetic love." David Lan and his family devoted their lives to Changhua, complemented by a continuous influx of medical missionaries and a team of church pastors led by Pastor Mei Jianwu, which established a complete system for the care of body, mind, and spirit. The historical development of this context holds great value for scholarly research. Therefore, in order to preserve and study the precious historical materials from the past 120 years, Changhua Christian Hospital established the Changhua Christian Hospital Historical Museum in 1998 to safeguard important historical artifacts. The museum adheres to the core value of "God's love for the world," focusing on the social care network established by Western missionaries in central Taiwan's medical and church systems as its collection and research targets, with the purpose of preserving, adding value to, and social learning from the medical history materials of central Taiwan.
