Sun Moon Lake Ita Thao Introduction
Ita Thao, formerly known as "Dehua Society" and "Huafan Society," is primarily inhabited by the Thao people and is the most populated village by Sun Moon Lake. President Chiang Kai-shek used to enjoy boating here to watch the traditional mountain songs and dances of the Thao people, making this area an important indigenous cultural park in Sun Moon Lake. Today, Ita Thao is home to the Thao, Atayal, and Han people, and features shops selling crafts, restaurants, and hotels. Around August 15 each year, the Thao people hold a grand festival during which the entire tribe participates. Visitors who choose to come during this time can enjoy the captivating culture of the Thao tribe. Additionally, Ita Thao is also the starting point for hiking Mount Shuishe.
