Ita Thao, Sun Moon Lake Introduction
Itadao, formerly known as "Dehua Society" and "Huafan Society," is primarily inhabited by the Thao people and is the most populous village by Sun Moon Lake. Former President Chiang Kai-shek loved to paddle here to enjoy the Thao people's mountain songs and dances, making this community an important indigenous cultural area of Sun Moon Lake. Today, Itadao is home to the Thao, Atayal, and Han ethnic groups, with various craft shops, restaurants, and hotels in the village. Around August 15th each year, the Thao people hold a grand festival, during which all members of the tribe participate. Visitors who choose to come at this time can fully experience the captivating charm of the Thao people. Additionally, Itadao is also the trailhead for Mount Shuishan.
