Sun Moon Lake, Ita Thao Introduction

Ita Thao, formerly known as Dehua Community and Huafan Community, is primarily inhabited by the Thao people and is the most populous village by Sun Moon Lake. President Chiang Kai-shek used to enjoy boating here to appreciate the singing and dancing of the Thao people, which led to the community becoming an important cultural area for indigenous peoples at Sun Moon Lake. Around August 15th of each year, the Thao community holds a grand festival, where the whole tribe participates.
