Sun Moon Lake Cable Car Station Introduction
The Sun Moon Lake Cable Car connects the Ita Thao and the Aboriginal Culture Village, offering stunning Michelin three-star views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. This cable car system, designed and manufactured by the Austrian company Dopplemayr, spans a length of 1,877 meters from the lakeside near Ita Thao to the observation deck of the Aboriginal Culture Village, featuring 86 cabins colored in red, yellow, blue, and green, representing the sun (日), moon (月), lake water (潭), and forest (綠野) respectively. Among them, the green cabin has a transparent crystal floor, making it suitable for thrill-seekers. Passengers can experience a tingling sensation 142 meters above the ground. During the ride, you can enjoy panoramic views of the famous Sun Moon Lake scenery, including the Fish Pond and Puli Highland Basin, as well as a distant view of the Sun Moon Lake’s cross-border water diversion engineering marvel at the entrance of the Dazhu Lake. The ride also glides over the Smiling Valley, allowing you to take in the lake's breathtaking landscapes, geographic features, and hydrology, experiencing the four seasons of sunshine, rain, and clouds within a 10-minute aerial journey. As you ascend to Mount Pujih at an elevation of 1,000 meters, you will traverse a 786-meter-wide valley. The section of cable between pillars T7 and T8 forms a smiling arc called "The Smile of the Valley," providing unobstructed views, making it the best aerial route for overlooking the lake scenery.
