Sun Moon Lake Water Frog Head Trail Introduction
Shuifao Head Trail is located between Dazhu Lake and Ita Thao. The entrance features a frog statue and a small parking lot for cars. The trail is 600 meters long with an elevation change of about 60 meters, constructed as an elevated boardwalk. Walking along the bamboo forest path, the endpoint leads to a circular route by the waterside. The trail passes through a Moso bamboo forest with beautiful scenery, rich in native trees and ferns, and is lined with numerous wood orchids that bloom white flowers in the summer, making it highly ornamental. Along the way, one can observe a vibrant ecosystem with dancing butterflies, flying birds, leaping fish, and hopping frogs. By the pond, there is a bronze sculpture called "Frog Piling," which vividly narrates the origin of the place name and also serves as an observation indicator for water levels.
