Baicangyi Introduction
The author states: There is an ancient saying: "Rotten wood cannot be carved." When I was a child, collecting rotten wood in the deep mountains and fields, through careful observation, I found that rotten wood could quickly transform into a unique artistic expression, embodying the simple beauty of tradition while also possessing a modern artistic form. The saying, "Rotten wood cannot be carved," does not apply to me at all. While others treat rotten wood as rubbish, I regard it as treasure. The rooftop of my home is my treasure trove of rotten wood, and each piece I pick up becomes a one-of-a-kind work of heavenly carving. Everyone has their own aesthetic viewpoint; by treating uniquely shaped rotten wood with high-pressure water treatment, it becomes a piece of art shaped by nature, showcasing my unique perspective. My insistence on art is to create without using a single chisel or axe on the readily available rotten wood.
