Bai Cang Yi Introduction
The author states: There is an ancient proverb that goes, "rotted wood cannot be carved." As a child, I picked up rotted wood in the deep mountains and, after careful observation, I transformed it into a distinctive form of artistic expression that encompasses traditional rustic beauty while also possessing a modern artistic aesthetic. The saying "rotted wood cannot be carved" does not apply to me at all; while others view rotted wood as garbage, I see it as treasure. The rooftop of my home is my treasure trove of rotted wood, and I can easily create a unique piece of 天彫 (Tian Carving) from it. Everyone has their own perspective on aesthetics, and by treating uniquely shaped rotted wood with high-pressure water treatment, I create a natural sculpted artwork, which showcases my unique vision. It is my insistence on art that I take rotted wood effortlessly, without a single cut or chop.
