National Taiwan University Lower Ping Natural Education Area Introduction
Entering this treasure trove of nature feels like stepping into a paradise! The sounds of birds and flowers, the chirping of insects, and the appreciation of nature's gifts create a blissful and beautiful experience! The Taiwan University Tropical Botanical Garden, also known as Xiaping Arboretum, was established during the Japanese colonial period and was taken over by the Taiwan University Experimental Forest Management Office after World War II. It is now one of the five major botanical gardens managed by the Taiwan University Experimental Forest Management Office, featuring a variety of tropical, subtropical, and warm-temperate tree species, many of which are rare tropical plants in Taiwan. Visiting in summer reveals a wide variety of insects, such as stag beetles and other beetles, accompanied by the fragrant air of phytoncides and the summer cicadas’ chorus, creating a scene of unmatched beauty. The golden sunlight falling from the treetops and the rustling sound of leaves in the wind create a harmonious and enchanting symphony. This area can be explored on a half-day trip, and currently, there are no accommodations or hotels available. After your visit, you can head to the sought-after summer retreat—Xitou Nature Education Area, where spending the night to enjoy the symphony of fireflies, frogs, and insects is an extraordinary experience.
