National Taiwan University Lower Ping Natural Education Park Introduction
Entering this treasure trove of nature feels like being in paradise! The songs of birds and the fragrance of flowers, the chirps of insects, all serve as a tribute to nature, making it a joyful and beautiful experience! The National Taiwan University Tropical Botanical Garden, also known as the Xiaoping Arboretum, was established during the Japanese colonial period and was taken over by the National Taiwan University Experimental Forest Management Office after World War II. It is now one of the five major botanical specimen gardens managed by the National Taiwan University Experimental Forest. The garden is home to a variety of tropical, subtropical, and warm-temperate tree species, many of which are rare tropical plants in Taiwan. Visiting in summer, you can discover a wide range of insects such as stag beetles and other beetles, accompanied by the abundant phytoncides and the sounds of cicadas, creating a picturesque scene. The golden sunlight filtering through the treetops and the rustling of leaves in the breeze compose a harmonious and enchanting symphony. This area is suitable for a half-day trip, and there are currently no travel accommodations or hotels available. After your visit, you can head to the sought-after summer retreat—the Xitou Nature Education Area, where spending the night to enjoy the fireflies and listen to the symphony of frogs and insects is a rare experience.
