NTU Lower Ping Nature Education Park Introduction
Entering this treasure trove of nature feels like stepping into a paradise! With the sound of birds singing, flowers blooming, and insects chirping, one can fully appreciate the beauty of nature—it is a blissful and wonderful experience! The National Taiwan University Tropical Botanical Garden, also known as the Xiaping Arboretum, was established during the Japanese colonial period and was taken over by the NTU Experimental Forest Management Office after World War II. It is now one of the five major botanical specimen gardens managed by the NTU Experimental Forest Management Office. The garden is home to a variety of tropical, subtropical, and warm temperate tree species, many of which are rare tropical plants in Taiwan. Visiting in summer, you can discover a wide array of insects such as scarabs and beetles, surrounded by a rich scent of phytoncides along with the sounds of cicadas. The golden sunlight filtering through the treetops and the rustling leaves in the wind create a harmonious and enchanting symphony. This garden is suitable for a half-day trip; currently, there are no tourist facilities or hotels. After your visit, you can head to the much-desired summer retreat—Xitou Nature Education Area, where staying overnight to enjoy the fireflies and listen to the symphony of frogs and insects is an unforgettable experience.
