Douliou Nansheng Temple Introduction
The largest wooden statue of Guan Yu in Taiwan is located at Nan Sheng Gong, originally named Ci Xiu Tang. It belongs to the Luan Tang system of Fu Bi Ji Shi and primarily enshrines five deities: Guan Di, Lü Zu, Zao Jun, Yue Wang, and Wang Ling Guan, collectively referred to by devotees as the Five Holy Benefactors. The statue of Guan Di is carved from camphor wood, standing 3.6 meters tall and weighing over 600 Taiwanese pounds, which is quite rare in Taiwan. The old temple of Nan Sheng Gong existed as early as the 50th year of the Republic, and in the 66th year, the temple was relocated to its current site. It houses the statue of "Guan Lao Ye," which was carved 500 years ago and drifted ashore from the sea. The temple follows Confucian teachings, aiming to educate the masses about religion and guide them on a path of self-cultivation and moral development. The statue of Guan Yu at Nan Sheng Gong is photographed by Xue Yingqi. (Authorized photo, please do not reprint.)
