Suo Gang Fishing Port Introduction
Located in Suogang Village, Magong City, Penghu County, Suogang Fishing Harbor is a second-class fishing port situated in a natural inner bay, serving as the central fishing port in the southern part of Magong Island. Established in May 1953, it features a 388-meter rubble breakwater and a 240-meter pier, along with a fuel station and a 127-meter revetment. In 1977, funded by the Central Accelerated Program, dredging and other works were completed at the pier and anchorage. Suogang Fishing Harbor is equipped with various facilities such as a fuel station, an ice storage facility, a fishing equipment sorting area, and an auction hall, providing supplies and reducing the distance fishing boats need to travel to Magong for supplies, thus serving as an auxiliary port to Magong Harbor. On land, the fishing industry facilities include a fish market, freezer, ice factory, fuel station, and a fishermen's activity center, all well-equipped, although some catches still need to be marketed at Magong Fishing Port. The fish market at Suogang Fishing Harbor is famous in Penghu, where fishing boats go out to catch fish and return to sell them at the harbor, especially during the afternoon fish selling period, attracting people from various villages in Penghu to specifically come to Suogang to buy fish. Next to the harbor stands Ziwai Palace, home to the tallest temple statue in Penghu, dedicated to the Emperor Ziwai. It can be clearly seen from the airplane, the statue cost over a hundred million NT dollars and took about ten years to complete. The palace is seven stories high and is a must-visit spot in Penghu's Suogang. Nearby are the North and South Stone Towers, built by the ancestors at Suogang, meant to suppress winds and evil spirits. 【Recommended Stay Time】1 hour
