Suogang Fishing Port Introduction
Located in Suogang Village, Magong City, Penghu County, there is a second-class fishing port called Suogang Fishing Port within a natural inlet, serving as the central fishing port in the southern part of Magong Island. In May of the 42nd year of the Republic, a 388-meter rock-based breakwater and a 240-meter dock were built, along with a fueling station and a 127-meter shoreline. In the 66th year of the Republic, the central government’s accelerated plan subsidized the completion of dredging work for the dock and anchorage. Suogang Fishing Port features facilities such as a fueling station, ice storage, a fishing gear sorting area, and an auction hall for supplies, reducing the travel distance for fishing boats to refuel in Magong, thus becoming an auxiliary port of Magong Harbor. The onshore fishing facilities include a fish market, a freezer, an ice factory, a fueling station, and a fishermen's activity center, providing comprehensive services; only some catches still need to be marketed at Magong Fishing Port. The fish market inside Suogang Fishing Port is a famous fish merchant market in Penghu. Every morning and afternoon, fishing boats head out to catch fish and return to the port for sale, especially during the afternoon fish selling time when people from various villages in Penghu specifically come to Suogang to buy fish. Next to the port stands the ZI Wei Temple, which features the tallest deity statue in Penghu, primarily worshipping the Emperor ZI Wei. It is clearly visible from the airplane, with the statue costing over a billion NTD and taking ten years to complete, standing seven stories high. It is an attraction not to be missed when visiting Suogang in Penghu. Also nearby are the North and South Stone Towers of Suogang, built by ancestors to ward off evil and stabilize the wind. 【Recommended Stay Time】1 hour
