The temple was established in the 8th year of the Jiaqing reign to worship Xuantian Shangdi, Wenheng Shengdi, Shuidian Wang, Liu Dawang, Taizuye, and other deities praying for peace in the area, and it was rebuilt in the 63rd year of the Republic. The turtle lottery activity at this temple is one of the most famous folk traditions in Penghu, and visitors can come to observe it during the Lantern Festival.
