Hsu Family Village and Painted Murals Introduction
Xujia Village is a traditional settlement in Penghu that features a gathering of four-sided courtyards, named after the Xu family who are the primary inhabitants. The village is characterized by quiet traditional quadrangle courtyards, and there are several "Xujia ancient houses" located along Highway 203 in Huxi Township, which preserve early architectural traditions such as Zisun Lane, Langshi Wall, and Ox Cart Path, as well as the Bagua Lane, resembling defensive structures. The residents work together to maintain the unpretentious appearance of the village, where red ox carts and gray stone walls can still be seen. In recent years, colorful paintings have been added to the Langshi Wall, creating a beautiful contrast with the traditional settlement's charm. Many beautiful painted walls can be found here, each artwork resembling a postcard, vividly presenting the essence of Penghu. Walking through the streets of Xujia Village, one can see various styles and themes of painted walls. Since 2013, the range of painted artworks has gradually expanded, with maintenance and updates ensuring the walls remain fresh and clean. Unlike typical tourist attractions, strolling slowly through Xujia Village allows one to experience traditional simplicity and tranquility. Xujia Village is the closest settlement to Magong City where one can view the Langshi ancient houses, and it boasts a vast coastline with shallow waters and extensive intertidal zones. In front of the community activity center, there is also a pavilion, making it possible to explore the narrow alleys of ancient houses while appreciating the artistic atmosphere of the new and the old. 【Recommended Stay Duration】2 hours
