Xu Family Village and Colorful Murals Introduction
Xujia Village is a traditional settlement in Penghu, known for its cluster of traditional quadrangle courtyards, named after the residents who are predominantly of the Xu surname. The village features serene traditional siheyuan structures, with several "Xu Family Ancient Houses" located along Highway 203 in Huxi Township, preserving early architectural traditions such as Zisun Lane, Stone Wall, and Ox Cart Path, along with Bagua Lane, which resembles a defensive structure. The villagers work together to maintain the village's rustic appearance, where one can still see red ox carts and gray stone walls. In recent years, colorful totem paintings have been added to the stone walls, creating a beautiful contrast with the traditional atmosphere of Xujia Village. There are many beautiful painted walls here, with each mural resembling a postcard depicting scenes of Penghu. Walking through the streets of Xujia Village, one can see various styles and themes of painted walls. Since 2013, the painting range has gradually increased, and there are efforts to maintain and update the murals, keeping them fresh and clean. Unlike typical tourist spots, leisurely strolling through Xujia Village allows visitors to experience the traditional simplicity and tranquility. Xujia Village is the closest settlement to Magong City where one can observe the ancient stone houses, and it boasts a vast coastline with shallow waters and an expansive intertidal zone. In front of the community activity center, there is a pavilion, allowing visitors to wander through the narrow alleys of ancient houses and appreciate the artistic atmosphere that blends the old and the new. 【Suggested Stay Time】2 hours
