Hsu Family Village and Painted Murals Introduction
Xujia Village is a traditional settlement located in Penghu, known for its unique layout of congregate courtyards. The village derives its name from the fact that the residents predominantly belong to the Xu clan. The village features many tranquil traditional quadrangular courtyards, including several "Xu Family Ancient Houses," situated alongside Highway 203 in Huxi Township. These houses retain early architectural traditions, including the Zisun Lane, the Stone Wall, and the Ox Cart Path, along with the Bagua Lane, which resembles a defensive structure. The residents collaborate to maintain the village's rustic appearance; you can still see red ox carts and gray stone walls. In recent years, colorful murals have been painted on the stone walls, creating a beautiful contrast with the traditional ambience of Xujia Village. There are many beautiful painted walls here, each mural resembling a postcard, depicting various aspects of Penghu. Walking through the streets and alleys of Xujia Village, you can see various styles and themes of painted walls. Since 2013, mural artists have gradually expanded their canvassing range, while also maintaining and updating the murals to keep them fresh and clean. Unlike typical tourist attractions, strolling through Xujia Village allows one to experience traditional simplicity and tranquility. Xujia Village is the closest settlement to Magong City where visitors can closely observe the ancient stone houses, and it also boasts a vast coastline with shallow waters and extensive intertidal zones. There is a pavilion in front of the community activity center, making it an ideal spot to wander through the narrow alleys of ancient houses, appreciating the artistic atmosphere created by the blend of the old and the new. 【Recommended Stay Duration】2 hours
