Candlestick Four Views Introduction
Starting from Magong, along County Road 203 towards the direction of Xiyu Township, between Chi Xi and Chi Ma, at the western coast of Chi Ma Village and the southern beachfront of Chi Xi Village, follow the industrial road to the Xue Zaiwei coastal erosion platform. The Four Lantern Views are nearby, and the road leading to the Four Lantern Views is a downhill path that is relatively steep. This area belongs to private property and is very secluded. After walking down the path, you will see a shaded area created by several tall trees, featuring a few wooden tables and chairs, as well as stone tables and chairs. The infinite blue sea view can be enjoyed here, overlooking Chi Ma Beach and the Inner An Recreation Area beach. During low tide, a large stone fish trap can be seen on the right side, where you can enjoy the charming sea view and tranquility, making it a delightful experience. There is a magical Guandi Temple here. After crossing the woods, you will find a metal-roofed house that wraps around an old small temple. Inside, it houses deities including Wenchang Dijun, Guansheng Dijun, and Tudigong. Among them, the statue of Guansheng Dijun is said to be the legendary bearded statue of Guan Yu. The walls of the temple feature inscriptions about the birth of Wenchang Dijun and reports of Guansheng Dijun's beard growing. This once was a statue of Guansheng Dijun salvaged from the sea by a landowner, who built a temple to worship it and planted flowers and trees here, creating a rare "coastal garden" in Penghu, and is willing to open it to share the blessings of Guansheng Dijun's presence with everyone. Within the scenic area, there is a stone tablet that narrates a poem about the Four Views, inscribed with "White sand at Anjiao is clean like silver, green water at Zhuantai beats against the shore, rough reefs and temples provide shade for visitors, large fish traps gather the treasures of all seasons," referring to the beach, the sea waves, the temple, and the stone traps. It is called "Four Lanterns" because the tide recedes to reveal columns of basalt in the intertidal zone below, hence the name. [Recommended stay time] 0.5 hours
