Magong Guanyin Pavilion Leisure Park Introduction
Guanyin Pavilion is the premier ancient temple in Penghu, located next to the Youth Activity Center. From the temple, one can enjoy a distant view of the sunset over Xiyu, with breathtaking scenery. It has been praised for its beauty in the "Records of Penghu" written 400 years ago, stating "the vastness of waves in all directions, the scenery is quite secluded," and is the location of the "Xiying Scenic Area." It is also known for the beauty of "Guanyin Sunset." Guanyin Pavilion was first built in the 35th year of the Kangxi era (1696), primarily venerating Guanyin Bodhisattva. To the left of Guanyin Pavilion is the famous Wangchao Pavilion, and to the lower right, the Dolphin Pavilion along with the Huai'en Pavilion directly opposite the beach, all forming the "Four Pavilions by the Sea" of the Xiying Scenic Area. Standing at the Jie Shou Pavilion offers a view of the beautiful sunset over Xiyu, while the Wangchao Pavilion allows for distant observation of the tidal changes in the Taiwan Strait. The Dolphin Pavilion represents the dolphins in the waters around Penghu, and the Huai'en Pavilion is built in memory of former President Chiang Kai-shek. Below Guanyin Pavilion, in a calm central sea area separated by a seawall, is a natural seawater bathing area, perfect for swimming and playing in the water. Recently, a waterfront recreation area has been built near Guanyin Pavilion, including an international sailing competition center, a children's playground, bicycle fitness tracks, basketball courts, and an ice skating rink, making it one of the most beautiful landmarks in Penghu and an excellent venue for sports and leisure activities. In the early morning and evening, it is the top choice for residents of Magong to relax and exercise. The Xiying Rainbow Bridge serves as the launching point for the Penghu Ocean Fireworks Festival, where visitors can sit by the shores near Guanyin Pavilion and Dolphin Pavilion on the nights of the event to enjoy the splendid sight of the rainbow bridge combined with fireworks.
