Magong Guanyin Pavilion Leisure Park Introduction
Guanyin Pavilion is the foremost ancient temple in Penghu, located next to the Youth Activity Center. From the front of the temple, visitors can enjoy a distant view of the sunset over Xiyu, with excellent scenery. As early as 400 years ago, the "Penghu County Gazetteer" praised it as "the vast smoke and waves in all directions, with magnificent and quiet scenery," and it is also the site of the "Xiying Scenic Area." It is renowned for its beautiful scenery known as the "Guanyin Evening Glow." The Guanyin Pavilion was built in the 35th year of the Kangxi Emperor's reign (1696) and is dedicated to the worship of Guanyin Bodhisattva. To the left of the Guanyin Pavilion is the famous Wangchao Pavilion, and nearby are the Dolphin Pavilion below the Jieshou Pavilion and the Huai'en Pavilion in front of the swimming area, all part of the "Four Pavilions by the Sea" in the Xiying Scenic Area. Standing at the Jieshou Pavilion offers a magnificent view of the sunset at Xiyu, while Wangchao Pavilion allows for a distant view of the tides of the Taiwan Strait. The Dolphin Pavilion symbolizes the dolphins found along the Penghu shoreline, and Huai'en Pavilion is built in memory of former President Chiang Kai-shek. Just below the Guanyin Pavilion, in a calm area separated by a seawall, there is a natural swimming area, making it a great spot for swimming and playing in the water. A new recreational area with water-friendly facilities, an international sailing competition center, a children's playground, a cycling health path, a basketball court, and an ice skating rink have been built around the Guanyin Pavilion, making it a beautiful landmark in Penghu and an excellent place for sports and leisure. It is a top choice for Magong residents to relax and exercise in the early morning and at dusk. The Xiying Rainbow Bridge is a fireworks display site during the Penghu Sea Fireworks Festival, where visitors can enjoy the spectacular night view of the fireworks combined with the rainbow bridge from the banks near Guanyin Pavilion and Dolphin Pavilion on the event nights.
