Magong Guanyin Pavilion Leisure Park Introduction
Guanyin Pavilion is the premier ancient temple in Penghu, located next to the Youth Activity Center. From the front of the temple, you can enjoy a distant view of the sunset over Xiyu, making it a picturesque spot. It has long been praised in the "Penghu County Annals" 400 years ago for its "expansive and tranquil scenery," and is known as a "beautiful spot of the Western Seas." It is renowned for the beautiful sight of "Guanyin Sunset." Guanyin Pavilion was built in the 35th year of the Kangxi Era (1696) and is dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva. To the left of Guanyin Pavilion is the famous Wangchao Pavilion, along with Dolphin Pavilion below the right side of Jieshou Pavilion and Huai'en Pavilion facing the beach, collectively known as the "Four Pavilions by the Sea" in the scenic Western Seas. Standing at Jieshou Pavilion offers stunning views of the sunset over Xiyu, while Wangchao Pavilion provides a view of the ebb and flow of the Taiwan Strait. Dolphin Pavilion symbolizes the dolphins along the Penghu coastline, and Huai'en Pavilion is built in memory of former President Chiang Kai-shek. Just below Guanyin Pavilion, a calm area of the sea has formed a natural swimming beach, making it a great spot for swimming and play. Currently, a water recreation area, an international sailing competition center, a children's playground, a bicycle health trail, a basketball court, and a skating rink have been newly built around Guanyin Pavilion, making it a beautiful landmark in Penghu and an excellent place for sports and leisure. During the early morning and dusk, it is a preferred spot for residents of Magong to relax and exercise. The Xiying Rainbow Bridge is the site for the Penghu Ocean Fireworks Festival, where on the night of the event, you can sit along the shore near Guanyin Pavilion and Dolphin Pavilion to enjoy the stunning view of the fireworks along with the rainbow bridge.
