Guandu Pier Introduction
Guandu, originally known as Gandoumen, is situated with Guanyin Mountain and Datun Mountain at its back, facing the Tamsui River, making it a strategically important port. Early settlers entered northern Taiwan through Guandu Pier for development, leading to early exploitation of the Guandu area. However, due to sedimentation at the river mouths of the Keelung River and Tamsui River, water transport gradually declined. Guandu Pier is located next to Guandu Nature Park and Guandu Temple. On weekends and at night, many visitors can be seen walking and resting around Guandu Pier. There are also many cyclists who come from Bali via the Guandu Bridge, or from Tamsui, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way, making it an excellent spot for sightseeing.
