Guandu Pier Introduction
Guandu, originally named "Gandoumen," is situated against Guanyin Mountain and Datun Mountain, facing the Tamsui River, making it a strategically important port. In earlier times, pioneers entered northern Taiwan through Guandu Pier to cultivate the land, leading to the early development of Guandu. However, due to sedimentation at the mouths of the two rivers (Keelung River and Tamsui River), water transport gradually declined. Guandu Pier is located next to Guandu Nature Park and Guandu Temple. On weekends and at night, visitors can be seen strolling and resting around Guandu Pier, and many cyclists come from Bali via Guandu Bridge or from Tamsui. The scenic route makes it a great place for sightseeing.
