Guandu Golden Waterfront Biking Trail, Bali Left Bank Cycling Path Introduction
Before the Keelung River flows into the Tamsui River, it forms a beautiful curve around Shezi Island. On its northern bank and to the west of the Huanggong Creek, precious rice fields of metropolitan Taipei are preserved, connecting to the estuarine mangrove natural reserve. This allows visitors to escape the noise and chaos in a short distance. Riding a bicycle along its paths offers a taste of the simple and serene rural atmosphere of yesteryear. Strolling along the dyke at sunset, with a gentle river breeze and the chirping of birds, one can fully experience the lively yet romantic and leisurely wild charm of the Guandu Nature Reserve. The bike path traversing the Guandu Plain features an entirely open route, with the western endpoint at Guandu Temple. Heading east along the Guandu embankment to the Baxian Fude Temple, the path then turns 90 degrees north across the Guandu Plain, extending until reaching the southern side of the MRT tracks along Central North Road in Beitou. Exiting from there leads directly to Diaoxiang Road west of the Political Warfare School. Visitors who cannot bring their own bicycles will find it more convenient to start from Guandu Temple, which is close to the MRT station and offers bike rentals or tandem bikes. The original vendors along the riverbank section near Guandu Temple have completely relocated, transforming the area into an accessible pedestrian walkway. The fishing boats that once docked by the small bridge over the Zhonggang River have also moved to the Tamsui River, providing a refreshing view of the water area, even though it has lost the nostalgic appeal of the old fishing port with its canoes.
