Guandu Nature Park Introduction
Guandu Nature Park is located at the confluence of the Tamsui River and Keelung River, and has been an important habitat for migratory birds since ancient times. After more than a decade of efforts by conservationists, Guandu Nature Park was established in 1996. As of December 1, 2001, the park has been managed by the Taipei Bird Watching Society, under the commission of the Taipei City Government. The main goals of Guandu Nature Park are to conserve the wetland environment, restore the landscape of Guandu wetlands, reintroduce indigenous species to the wetlands, and educate the public about the Guandu wetlands. To enhance public understanding of wetlands, the park frequently organizes diverse environmental education activities and exhibitions such as themed exhibitions, weekend lectures, parent-child DIY workshops, and camps, as well as assisting schools with various environmental education initiatives, including stationed explanations and outdoor teaching. In addition to preserving the natural wetland environment, the park also provides a place for citizens and tourists to experience nature and enjoy leisure on weekends.
