Xingtian Temple Introduction
Xingtian Temple is located at the intersection of Minquan East Road and Songjiang Road in Zhongshan District, Taipei City. It is the most visited temple in Northern Taiwan, with daily visitor numbers reaching tens of thousands. Xingtian Temple venerates the main deity Emperor Guan of the Southern Heaven, and it also houses deities such as Emperor Lü of the Southern Palace, Zhang Jianjun of the Nine Heavens, Wang Sanlin, General Yue Fei, Prince Guan, and various sacred figures from Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. Since its completion, it has become the most visited temple in the Greater Taipei area and even Northern Taiwan, not only due to its widespread acceptance among the public but also due to its unique features, which include: no donation boxes, no animal sacrifices, no burning of joss paper, no acceptance of gold plaques, no theatrical performances for deities, no fortune-telling, no external fundraising, and a prohibition on commercial activities. The temple is located downtown, features a spacious courtyard, and was the first to establish a religious foundation, confirming its role in social welfare. Xingtian Temple encompasses not only the main temple in Taipei but also branches in Sanxia and Beitou, as well as the "Xingtian Temple Cultural and Educational Development Promotion Foundation" established in 1995. Additionally, it operates two affiliated libraries (located in downtown Taipei and Beitou) and the Enzhu Temple Hospital in Sanxia, demonstrating its commitment to public welfare, showing that religion can not only soothe the hearts of the people but also substantially benefit their daily lives.
