Xingtian Temple Introduction
Xingtian Temple is located at the intersection of Minquan East Road and Songjiang Road in the Zhongshan District. It is the most visited temple in northern Taiwan, with daily visitors reaching up to tens of thousands. Xingtian Temple venerates the main deity, the Nantiang Wenheng Shengdi Guan, along with other deities including Nanguang Fuyou Dajun Lu, Jiutian Siming Zhenjun Zhang, Xiantian Huoluo Lingguan Wang, Jingzhong Wumu Wang Yue, Guansheng Taizi Ping, Zhou Enshi Cang, and various deities from Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. Since its completion, it has become the most frequented temple in the Greater Taipei area, and even in all of northern Taiwan, not only due to widespread belief among the public but also because of several unique features: it does not have a donation box, no animal sacrifices, no burning of ceremonial paper, no acceptance of gold medals, no performance rituals to appease deities, no divination practices, no external fundraising, and prohibits commercial activities. The temple is centrally located, has a spacious courtyard, and has established a religious foundation, affirming its commitment to social welfare. Xingtian Temple encompasses not only the main temple in Taipei but also branch temples in Sanxia and Beitou, and it founded the "Xingtian Temple Cultural and Educational Development Promotion Foundation" in 1995. In addition, there are two affiliated libraries (located in downtown Taipei and Beitou), and the Enzhugong Hospital in Sanxia. Its public welfare initiatives illustrate that the temple promotes not only spiritual solace but also practical benefits to the daily lives of the community.
