Learning and Innovation Foundation Introduction

The origin of the establishment of the Learning and Creation Cultural Foundation was inspired by the desire for a "Cultural and Creative Learning Platform" amid the transformation of Taiwanese cultural thinking and economic industries. Lin Bo-shih, chairman of the Hsu Lian Group, and his wife Hsu Li-ling were motivated to establish "Learning and Creation." In September 2005, they invited elites from Taiwan's cultural and creative industry and academia to jointly found a platform centered on "culture" and "creativity," with its business content encompassing "education," "research," "exhibition," "consultancy," and "incubation." It serves as a bridge for learning and communication among the arts, design, philosophy, technology, and economic communities. The cross-disciplinary exchanges it offers will impact the future of young people! This encapsulates the era in which Learning and Creation was founded: at both the living and working ends, there is a pressing need for a rich and nourishing cultural sensibility—experiences of culture and aesthetics. Companies are also beginning to learn how to utilize "cultural capital" to seek creative business opportunities from culture. The name "Learning and Creation" derives from the most ancient Eastern simple humanistic thought, with references from the "Book of Rites" in the "Learning Record" chapter: "Even with delicious food, one cannot taste its flavor if not eaten; even with the highest principles, one cannot know their goodness if not learned. Thus, one learns to know one's inadequacies, and teaches to know one's difficulties; knowing inadequacies allows for self-reflection, and knowing difficulties allows for self-strengthening. Therefore, it is said that teaching and learning promote each other. Hence, the saying goes, learning half means this." "Learning and Creation" symbolizes the idea that "teaching and learning each account for half of knowledge." What Learning and Creation envisions is that students in every classroom could be teachers in another, and teachers in one classroom could also be students in another, facilitating mutual learning, connection, and cross-industry collaboration between teachers and students. This aligns perfectly with the huge demand for cross-disciplinary value added by the cultural and creative industries in the employment market during Taiwan's industrial transformation. The philosophy of Learning and Creation is not only to provide a cultural and creative learning experience but also to offer diverse inspirations through art and design exhibitions. The aim is to share the journeys and thoughts of artists and designers. These experiences and creative ideas are integrated within the space of Learning and Creation, inspiring unlimited imagination and reflection, encouraging people to learn from teachers in different fields and engage in dialogue with art and design. Through the intersection and insights gained from interdisciplinary interactions, creative inspirations occur!
