Learning Arts and Creative Foundation Introduction
The origin of the establishment of the "Learning and Creative Foundation" was inspired by the desire of Taiwanese society for a "Cultural and Creative Learning Platform" during the process of transforming cultural thinking and economic industries. Lin Bo-Shih, Chairman of Shih-Lien Group, and his wife, Hsu Li-Ling, were moved to establish "Learning and Creative". In September 2005, they gathered elites from Taiwan's cultural and creative industry to jointly establish an organization centered on the core values of "culture" and "creativity," with business activities in "education," "research," "exhibitions," "consulting," and "incubation." The foundation creates a bridge for learning and communication between the fields of art, design, philosophy, technology, and economics. The cross-disciplinary exchanges it provides will impact the future of young people! This is exactly the context in which "Learning and Creative" was established: from both living and working aspects, there is an urgent need for a rich and nourishing cultural sensitivity—experiencing culture and aesthetics; enterprises also began to learn how to utilize "cultural capital" to seek creative business opportunities from culture. The name "Learning and Creative" derives from the most ancient Eastern philosophical concept of simplicity in human relationships, originating from the book "Liji" (Book of Rites) in the chapter "Xueji": "Even with fine dishes, if one does not eat them, one does not know their taste; even with the ultimate teachings, if one does not learn them, one does not know their goodness. Therefore, one learns to know one's insufficiency and teaches to know one's difficulties; knowing one's insufficiency allows for self-reflection, and knowing one's difficulties allows for self-improvement. Hence, it is said that teaching and learning mutually enhance each other. It is implied that learning represents half of knowledge." "Learning and Creative" signifies that "teaching and learning each takes half of the knowledge." The foundation envisions that: every student in a classroom could be a teacher in another classroom; and every teacher in a classroom could also be a student in another classroom, fostering mutual learning, networking, and cross-industry collaboration, which aligns with the enormous demand in Taiwan's industry transformation for cross-disciplinary value-added services from cultural and creative industries. Philosophy: The philosophy of "Learning and Creative" is not only to provide cultural and creative learning but also to offer diverse inspirations through art and design exhibitions, aiming to share the thoughts and journeys of artists and designers. These experiences and creative thoughts integrate within the space of "Learning and Creative" to evoke people's limitless imagination and reflection, encouraging individuals to learn from teachers in different fields and engage in dialogue with art and design. Through cross-disciplinary interactions and insights, people can gain sudden bursts of creative inspiration!
