Beitou Garbage Incineration Plant Observation Deck Introduction

Beitou Incineration Plant was established on July 1, 1991, originally named Shilin Incineration Plant. On July 1, 1995, the plant was renamed Beitou Incineration Plant as its location was reclassified to Beitou District. It is under the jurisdiction of the Environmental Protection Department of Taipei City Government. The observation deck is located at the top of the decorated smoke stack tower, which stands 116 meters tall, and can be reached by taking a transparent scenic elevator from the entrance on the first floor. The observation deck features large floor-to-ceiling windows that provide a 360-degree view, allowing visitors to overlook the Yangming, Guanyin, and Datun mountain ranges, as well as the confluence of the Tamsui and Keelung rivers, including Shezi Island squeezed between the two rivers. Looking down, one can see vast landscapes of valleys and wetlands, as well as the lush Guandu Plain. At sunset, visitors can enjoy the view of the sun setting behind Guanyin Mountain, with the dazzling night scenery becoming a highlight, making it a famous sightseeing spot in Taipei City. The building also includes informative displays that compare the actual sites.
