Jincheng Japanese Dormitory Cluster Introduction

The Jinchi Japanese Dormitory Area is a group of middle-class official residences built during the Japanese colonial period in Jinchi, Taipei City, with construction dating back to the Showa era. The Japanese dormitories in Jinchi were employee accommodations for the Forestry Division of the Governor-General of Taiwan's Bureau of Colonial Development, referred to at that time as "Jinchi Six-Block Street." The Jinchi Japanese Dormitory Area is located at No. 84 and 86, Jin Hua Street, No. 90, Jin Hua Street, Lane 33 and 35, Section 2 of Hangzhou South Road, Lane 37 and 39, Section 2 of Hangzhou South Road, Lane 43, Section 2 of Hangzhou South Road, Lane 49 and 51, all of which belong to the Jinchi Japanese Dormitory Area. The entire architectural layout is oriented north-south, and the scale of the community is large, with a complete overall configuration. According to the Cultural Heritage Preservation Act, it has been registered as a "Historical Building of Taipei City." The spatial layout of the Jinchi Japanese Dormitory Area follows a Japanese residential style, with exterior features such as bamboo mud walls covered with rain boards, wooden trusses for the roof structure, and traditional black tiles for roofing.
