Jincheng Japanese Dormitory Cluster Introduction

The Jin Cheng Japanese Dormitory Complex is a group of middle-class official residences built during the Japanese colonial period in Jin Cheng, Taipei City, around the Showa era. The Japanese dormitories in Jin Cheng were staff accommodations for the Forestry Division of the Taiwan Governor-General's Office, known at the time as "Jin Cheng Six-Block Street." Located in the Daan District of Taipei City, the Jin Cheng Japanese Dormitory Complex encompasses the areas of No. 84 and 86 Jinhua Street, No. 90 Jinhua Street, No. 33 and 35 Lane 61, Section 2, Hangzhou South Road, No. 37 and 39 Lane 61, Section 2, Hangzhou South Road, No. 43, 49, and 51 Lane 61, Section 2, Hangzhou South Road. The entire complex is oriented north-south, features a large scale, and maintains a complete overall layout. It has been registered as a "Historical Building of Taipei City" in accordance with the Cultural Heritage Preservation Act. The spatial layout of the Jin Cheng Japanese Dormitory Complex reflects traditional Japanese residential style, with exterior characteristics including bamboo mud walls covered with rain boards, wooden truss roofing, and Japanese black tiles.
