Jincheng Japanese Dormitory Cluster Introduction

The Jin Chuan Japanese Dormitory Cluster is a group of middle-class official residences built during the Japanese colonial period in Jin Chuan, Taipei City, around the Shōwa era. The Japanese dormitories in Jin Chuan belonged to the Forestry Section of the Government-General of Taiwan and were referred to as "Jin Chuan Six-Block Street" at that time. The Jin Chuan Japanese Dormitory Cluster is located at No. 84 and 86 Jinhua Street, No. 90 Jinhua Street, No. 33 and 35 Lane 61, Section 2, Hangzhou South Road, No. 37 and 39 Lane 61, Section 2, Hangzhou South Road, No. 43, No. 49, and No. 51 Lane 61, Section 2, Hangzhou South Road, covering a large area with buildings oriented north-south. The entire layout is complete, and according to the Cultural Heritage Preservation Act, it has been registered as a "Historical Building of Taipei City." The spatial configuration of the Jin Chuan Japanese Dormitory Cluster reflects a Japanese residential style, characterized by bamboo mud walls with rainproof panels, wooden trusses, and roofs covered with traditional Japanese black tiles. The overall architectural structure is wooden, retaining the characteristics of Japanese architecture. (Source: Cultural Affairs Bureau, Taipei City Government)
