Yuanling Shopping Street_Shoe Street Introduction

At the intersection of Yunlin Street near Taipei Main Station, you can see a gigantic black shoe installation art. This street is known as Shoe Street. The area surrounded by Zhonghua Road, Zhongxiao West Road, Zhongshan South Road, and Aiguo West Road was once part of the Taipei City during the Qing Dynasty and has remained the political, economic, and cultural center of Taiwan. Although the city walls are no longer present, people still refer to this area as "City Center." Yunlin Shopping Street is located in the "inner city," historically rich in cultural and literary heritage. Many shops here are long-established businesses that uphold integrity in their trade. With the development of Taiwan's economy, the City Center Market and Yunlin Shopping Street have become bustling hubs for clothing and shoe stores, with Yunlin Shopping Street being particularly famous for its shoe stores. Most shoes on Yunlin Shopping Street are masterpieces personally crafted by skilled artisans, and many older generations take their worn-out shoes here for repair. Despite losing many customers due to the rise of department stores, the shopping district remains lively and vibrant, thanks to its emphasis on uniqueness and high quality.
