Yuanling Shopping Street_Shoe Street Introduction

Walking near the intersection of Yuanshan Street and Taipei Main Station, you can see a large black shoe installation art; this street is known as Shoe Street. Surrounded by Zhonghua Road, Zhongxiao West Road, Zhongshan South Road, and Aiguo West Road, this area was the Taipei City during the Qing Dynasty and has been the center of Taiwan's politics, economy, and culture. Although the city walls are no longer present, people still refer to it as the "City Center." Yuanshan Shopping Street is located "within the city" and has historically been rich in cultural resources. Many shops here are long-established and uphold integrity in business. With the development of Taiwan's economy, the City Center Market and Yuanshan Shopping Street have become clusters for clothing and shoe stores, with Yuanshan Shopping Street being especially famous for shoe shops. The leather shoes here are often masterpieces crafted by experienced artisans, and many older generations bring their worn-out shoes here for repairs. Despite losing many customers due to social progress and the rise of department stores, the area remains lively due to its emphasis on distinctive features and high quality.
