Yuanling Shopping Street_Shoe Street Introduction
Walking near the Yuanshan Street entrance by Taipei Main Station, you can see a huge black shoe installation art; this street is known as Shoe Street. The area surrounded by Zhonghua Road, Zhongxiao West Road, Zhongshan South Road, and Aiguo West Road was part of the Taipei City during the Qing Dynasty, and it has always been the center of Taiwan's politics, economy, and culture. Although the city walls were eventually removed, people still refer to this area as the "City Center." Yuanshan Commercial Street is located "within the city" and has been rich in cultural resources from ancient times to the present. Many shops here are long-established brands that operate with integrity. With the development of Taiwan's economy, the City Center Market and Yuanshan Commercial Street have become a gathering place for clothing and shoe stores, with Yuanshan Commercial Street particularly famous for shoe stores. The shoes here are often masterpieces handcrafted by skilled artisans, and many older generations bring their worn shoes here for repairs. With social advancements and the rise of department stores, Yuanshan Commercial Street has lost many customers, but its emphasis on uniqueness and quality keeps the business district lively and vibrant.
