Yuanling Shopping Street_Shoe Street Introduction
Walking near the intersection of Yuanling Street and Taipei Main Station, you can see a giant black leather shoe installation art. This street is known as Shoe Street. The area surrounded by Zhonghua Road, Zhongxiao West Road, South Zhongshan Road, and Aiguo West Road was the site of Taipei City during the Qing Dynasty and has always been the political, economic, and cultural center of Taiwan. Although the city walls are no longer present, it is still referred to as the "city center." Yuanling Commercial Street is located "in the city," and has been rich in literary tradition and historical cultural resources from ancient times to the present. Many of the shops here are long-established businesses that adhere to principles of integrity in their operations. With the development of Taiwan's economy, the city center market and Yuanling Commercial Street have become gathering places for clothing and shoe stores, with Yuanling Commercial Street being particularly famous for its shoe shops. Most of the leather shoes on Yuanling Commercial Street are masterpieces personally crafted by skilled artisans. Many older generations come here to repair their shoes once they are damaged. With social progress and the rise of department stores, Yuanling Commercial Street has lost many customers, but its emphasis on uniqueness and quality keeps the business district lively and bustling.
