The God of War temple in Gouzao, dedicated to the Supreme Emperor Bei Ji Xuan Tian and the two generals Kang and Zhao (the tortoise and snake spirits), was established in the early Qing Dynasty and has a history of over 200 years. Gouzao Village is primarily inhabited by the Tsai family from Qingyang. In earlier years, there were violent clashes between the Wu and Tsai families from Beigang, and the Emperor has appeared in spirit to assist the Tsai family.

Gouzai Zhenwu Temple Introduction

Gouzao Zhenwu Temple is dedicated to the worship of Beiji Xuanditian (Supreme Emperor of the Dark Heaven) and the two generals, Kang and Zhao (the Turtle and Snake spirits). The temple was established in the early Qing Dynasty and has a history of over two hundred years. Gouzao Village is primarily inhabited by the Cai clan of Qingyang. In the past, there were violent conflicts between the Wu and Cai clans in Beigang, and the deity has been said to have manifested to assist the Cai family.
