Yong'an Conch Cultural Experience Park Introduction
This park is centered around the Xinyuan Yong'an Fishing Port, integrating with the marine Hakka industry axis (National Route 61 and National Route 15), as well as surrounding Hakka settlements and temples-related industries. It utilizes the deep-rooted marine Hakka culture of Xinyuan and Guanyin as a foundation to reinforce the local identity, establish a cultural base, enhance residents' recognition, and pass on Hakka culture to promote the unique features of Taoyuan’s marine Hakka, thereby driving tourism development. The Conch Cultural Experience Park is located within the Yong'an Tourist Fish Market, which is the only Hakka fishing port in Taiwan. Traditional Hakka fishing methods, such as net fishing, conch blowing, and stone ponds fishing, are prominent here. Consequently, the main structure of the Conch Park, the Conch Pavilion, is inspired by the conch’s curves, integrating various environmental, functional, and structural aspects in its design. The landscape art in the courtyard is inspired by the sound of Hakka conch blowing. Additionally, an auxiliary building next to the main structure incorporates the Hakka stone pond used for fishing, enhancing the overall maritime Hakka ambiance. The park collaborates with nearby commercial areas to promote the agricultural and fishery industries and to further disseminate the marine Hakka culture. The park includes a special exhibition room that regularly plans exhibitions to inform the public about the development of Hakka culture, art, history, and to generate interest in Hakka culture. Furthermore, there is a sales space to provide dining and relaxation facilities for visitors. (Source: Hakka Affairs Council, Taoyuan City Government)
