Ocean Hakka Fishing Culture Museum Introduction
The Ocean Hakka Qianwu Culture Museum officially opened on June 19, 2020. Located in Xinwu District, which has a Hakka population ratio exceeding 80%, it is a genuine Hakka village that preserves many lifestyles distinct from that of the Hakka villages in the mountainous areas, developing a unique "farming the sea" culture. Here, "Qianwu" represents a fishing method developed by the Hakka ancestors in Taoyuan through teamwork and shared benefits. This not only reflects the traditional value of fishing heritage but also highlights the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance among the Hakka community. The museum features a three-story building adorned in blue and white. The exterior showcases artistic installations such as fishing nets and painted floats. The first floor consists of a farm and fishery experience area as well as a section for selling agricultural products, where visitors can book to taste authentic "Qianwu rice." An ecological aquarium displays a variety of cute marine life. The second floor includes a small indoor bar and an outdoor relaxation area, while the third floor conserves a military observation post that offers an unbeatable view of Qianwu Bay. Inside the museum, historical photos of Qianwu, fishing equipment, and other valuable agricultural and fishery artifacts are displayed, making it well worth a visit. In addition to enjoying authentic Qianwu flavor meals, visitors can also gain a deeper understanding of Hakka maritime traditional culture through the exhibited imagery of ocean Hakka life.
