Ocean Hakka Weaving Culture Museum Introduction
The Ocean Hakka Trawling Culture Museum officially opened on June 19, 2020. With over 80% of the population in Xinwu District being Hakka, it is a genuine Hakka village that preserves many lifestyles distinct from those in mountainous Hakka communities, developing a unique "farming the sea" culture. Here, the "trawling" is a fishing method that demonstrates the teamwork and shared benefits of Taoyuan's Hakka ancestors, highlighting not just the traditional fishing heritage but also the spirit of mutual assistance among Hakka people. The museum features a three-story building with a blue and white design, showcasing installations like fishing nets and painted floating buoys outside. The first floor includes a farm and fishery experience area, along with a section for selling agricultural products, where visitors can reserve and taste the authentic "trawling rice." There is also an ecological aquarium displaying various adorable marine creatures. The second floor has an indoor bar and outdoor relaxation area, while the third floor features a military observation post preserved for viewing the breathtaking sea scenery of Trawling Bay. The museum displays historical photos of trawling, fishing equipment, and related valuable agricultural and fishery artifacts, making it well worth a visit. In addition to enjoying authentic trawling cuisine, visitors can gain a deeper understanding of Hakka marine traditional culture through the exhibitions representing marine Hakka life.
