Oceanic Hakka Fishing Nets Culture Museum Introduction
The Ocean Hakka Net Fishing Cultural Center officially opened on June 19, 2020. Xinwu District has a Hakka population ratio of over 80%, making it an authentic Hakka village that preserves many lifestyles distinct from those in mountainous Hakka villages. It has developed a unique "farming the sea" culture, where "net fishing" demonstrates the team cooperation and shared benefits of the Hakka ancestors in Taoyuan. This not only represents the value of traditional fishing heritage but also highlights the spirit of unity and mutual assistance among Hakka communities. The center is a three-story building painted in blue and white, featuring installations such as fishing shelters and painted floating buoys. The first floor includes an agricultural and fishery experience area, as well as a local product sales area where visitors can make reservations to taste authentic "net fishing rice." There is also an ecological aquarium showcasing various adorable marine life. The second floor has a small indoor bar and an outdoor relaxation area, while the third floor features a preserved military observation post offering an unbeatable view of the Net Fishing Bay. The center exhibits historical photos of net fishing, fishing gear, and valuable artifacts related to agriculture and fisheries, making it well worth a visit. In addition to enjoying authentic net fishing cuisine, visitors can also gain a deeper understanding of Hakka maritime traditional culture through the exhibition of marine Hakka life imagery.
