Han-Ying Yun-Gen Stele Introduction
Located on the southern side of Gugang Lake, Xiantai Mountain is one of the stone relics inscribed by Ming ruler Lu Wang. In an effort to restore the Ming dynasty and resist the Qing, the regent Lu Wang stayed on Kinmen Island for over ten years. The stone inscription, carved during the years 1652 to 1654 of the Ming Yongli reign (6th to 8th year), reflects his determination and has been designated as a county-level historical site. Today, the Han Ying Yun Gen Stele consists of two inscriptions, one reversed and one upright. Legend has it that the original stele was situated on a slope but fell, resulting in the inscriptions being inverted; thus, later generations sought a similar cliff stone to create a rubbings that formed the stele with both upright and reversed inscriptions.
