Chaowu Wharf Introduction
Located on Provincial Highway 21, the Chaowu Pier is one of the four major piers at Sun Moon Lake. Looking east, it's a great spot to watch the sunrise. Due to the effects of climate, terrain, and hydrology, the lake is often shrouded in mist in the early morning. The thin mist under the first light of dawn creates a captivating scene, earning the nickname "Water Society Morning Mist," and is considered one of the eight scenic spots of Sun Moon Lake. This location is not only a pier for tourists to take boats and enjoy the lake's view but also the starting point for the annual Sun Moon Lake Swimming Festival, with the endpoint at the opposite side’s Ita Thao Pier, covering a distance of 3.3 kilometers.
