Jianjing Temple Introduction
The Land God Temple located beside Jiulongkou, at the entrance of Zhushiyuan Ecological Research Center. It is said that when the Japanese constructed a hydropower project at Sun Moon Lake, local residents often saw a group of shiny objects flying in the sky, which were said to be "Little Dragons" living at the bottom of the lake. Disturbed by the ongoing construction, they migrated toward Puli, and this place became the first location where people discovered the Little Dragons, hence named "Jianjing" (Seeing the Sparkle). From a modern scientific perspective, on sunny days, when sunlight hits the lake surface, the shimmering reflections create a sparkling effect, especially from the position of the Land God Temple, where the water appears bright and shiny, thus the name "Jianjing."
