Jianjing Temple Introduction

The Land Goddess Temple located beside Jiulongkou and near the entrance of the Zhushiyuan Ecological Research Center. Legend has it that during the construction of the hydropower project at Sun Moon Lake by the Japanese, local residents often observed sparkling objects flying in the sky. It is said that these were the "Dragon Silvers" residing at the bottom of the lake, which were disturbed by the construction and migrated towards Puli. This place is where people first discovered the Dragon Silvers, hence it was named "Jianjing." In modern scientific terms, on sunny days, the sun shines on the lake surface, creating a shimmering effect, especially from the location of the Land Goddess Temple, where the water surface glistens, thus named "Jianjing."
