Jianjing Temple Introduction
The Land God Temple is located beside Jiulongkou and the entrance to the Zhushiyuan Ecological Research Center. According to legend, when the Japanese were constructing a hydroelectric power project at Sun Moon Lake, local residents often spotted a group of shiny objects flying in the sky. It is said to be the "Dragon Silver" that resides at the bottom of the lake, which, disturbed by the construction, migrated towards Puli. This place was where the locals first discovered the Dragon Silver, hence the name "Jianjing." From a modern scientific perspective, on sunny days, the sunlight reflecting off the lake surface creates shimmering waves and sparkling light, especially at the location of the Land God Temple, where the water surface appears bright and sparkling, thus called "Jianjing."
