Jianjing Temple Introduction
The Tudi Gong Temple is located next to the mouth of Jiulong and the entrance of the Zhushiyuan Ecological Research Center. According to legend, when the Japanese were constructing a hydroelectric power project at Sun Moon Lake, local residents often saw a group of shiny objects flying in the sky. It was said to be the "Dragon Silver," which lived in the bottom of the lake. As the project proceeded, they were disturbed and migrated towards Puli. This place was where people first discovered the Dragon Silver, hence it was named "Jianjing." In modern scientific terms, on sunny days, the sunlight reflects off the surface of the lake, creating a shimmering effect, especially from the location of the Tudi Gong Temple, where, at first glance, the water surface appears sparkling; thus, it was named "Jianjing."
