Zhushan (Station and Surroundings) Introduction
Due to its prominent terrain and wide views, every time at sunrise, rays of light scatter across the land, complemented by the sea of clouds formed in the valleys, creating a magnificent spectacle. Many tourists travel great distances just to witness this breathtaking sight of light emergence. As early as the Japanese colonial period, Zhu Mountain was an important spot for watching the sunrise, but at that time, access was only via walking trails to Zhu Mountain or Mount Dajian. In 1971, the Forestry Bureau opened Zhu Mountain Forest Road, replacing the original narrow path; however, due to conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles, as well as air pollution, a railway was constructed in May 1984 to regulate vehicle access. Since the Zhu Mountain Line railway operates only in the early morning and hastily descends after sunrise, it is the highest train station in Taiwan and also the earliest station for commuting in the country!
