Zhushan (Station and Surrounding Area) Introduction
Due to its prominent terrain and wide view, during sunrise, countless rays of light scatter across the ground, combined with the cloud sea formed in the valleys, creating a spectacular scene. Many tourists travel great distances just to catch a glimpse of this breathtaking sight. As early as the Japanese colonial period, Zhu Mountain was an important spot for sunrise viewing, though at that time, access was limited to hiking trails leading up to Zhu Mountain or Dongpu Mountain. Starting in 1971, the Forest Bureau opened the Zhu Mountain Forest Road to replace the original narrow path, but due to conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians, as well as air pollution issues, a railway was constructed in May 1984, regulating vehicle access. Since the Zhu Mountain railway only operates in the early morning, it rushes visitors down after sunrise, making it the highest train station in Taiwan and the earliest station for commuting in the country!
