Zhushan (Station and Surrounding Area) Introduction
Due to its prominent terrain and wide field of vision, at sunrise, countless rays of light scatter across the ground, creating a magnificent spectacle along with the sea of clouds formed in the valley. Many visitors travel from afar to witness this breathtaking scene. During the Japanese rule period, Zhu Mountain was already an important spot for watching the sunrise; however, at that time, it could only be accessed via pedestrian paths leading to Zhu Mountain or Daka Mountain. Starting in 1971, the Forestry Bureau opened the Zhu Mountain Forest Road, replacing the original narrow paths. However, due to conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians and pollution from exhaust fumes, a railway was built in May 1984 to regulate vehicle traffic. Since the Zhu Mountain Line operates only in the early morning and must quickly descend after sunrise, it is the highest railway station in Taiwan and also the earliest station for commuting in the country!
