Zhushan (Station and Surrounding Area) Introduction
Due to its prominent terrain and wide views, when the sun rises, countless beams of light illuminate the ground, combined with the sea of clouds formed in the valley, creating a spectacular sight. Many tourists travel long distances just to catch a glimpse of this magnificent scene. As early as the Japanese colonial period, Zhu Mountain was an important spot for watching the sunrise. However, at that time, visitors could only climb Zhu Mountain or Daga Mountain via trails. In 1971, the Forestry Bureau opened the Zhu Mountain Forest Road to replace the original winding paths, but due to conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians and pollution from exhaust, a railway was constructed in May 1984 to regulate vehicle access. As the Zhu Mountain Line railway only operates in the early morning and hurriedly descends after sunrise, it is the highest train station in Taiwan and also the earliest station for commuters in the nation!
