Zhushan (Station and Surroundings) Introduction
Due to its prominent terrain and broad views, every sunrise casts a myriad of rays, combined with the sea of clouds in the valley, creating a remarkable spectacle. Many tourists travel a long distance just to witness this breathtaking moment. During the Japanese colonial period, Zhu Mountain was already an important sunrise viewing spot, but at that time, visitors could only hike up Zhu Mountain or to the nearby Gaoyuan. Starting in 1971, the Forestry Bureau opened the Zhu Mountain Forest Road to replace the original narrow path, but due to conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians, as well as pollution, a railway was constructed in May 1984 to regulate vehicle access. Since the Zhu Mountain Line railway operates only in the early morning, visitors hurriedly descend after sunrise. It is the highest train station in Taiwan and also the earliest station for commuting in the country!
