Zhushan (Station and Surrounding Area) Introduction
Due to its prominent terrain and wide visibility, at sunrise, countless rays of light scatter across the ground, complemented by the sea of clouds formed in the valleys, creating a magnificent spectacle. Many tourists travel from afar just to witness this breathtaking scene. As early as the Japanese colonial period, Zhu Mountain was an important spot for watching the sunrise, but at that time, access was only possible via hiking trails to Zhu Mountain or to Dagaoyue. Starting in 1971, the Forestry Bureau opened Zhu Mountain Forest Road to replace the original winding path, but due to conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles, as well as pollution, a railway was constructed in May 1984 to regulate vehicle access. Since the Zhu Mountain Railway only operates in the early morning and hurriedly descends after sunrise, it is the highest train station in Taiwan and also the earliest station for commuting in the nation!
