Zhushanyan (Station and Its Surroundings) Introduction
Due to its prominent terrain and wide vistas, every dawn, myriad rays of light illuminate the ground, complemented by the sea of clouds formed in the valley, creating a magnificent spectacle. Many tourists travel long distances just to catch a glimpse of this breathtaking scene as the light suddenly appears. As early as the Japanese colonial period, Zhu Mountain was an important sunrise viewing spot, but at that time, access was limited to hiking paths leading up to Zhu Mountain or Dagu Mountain. In 1971, the Forestry Bureau opened Zhu Mountain Forest Road to replace the original narrow paths. However, due to conflicts between vehicles and pedestrians and pollution issues, a railway was built in May 1984 to regulate vehicle entry and exit. Since the Zhu Mountain Line only operates in the early morning, passengers hurriedly descend after sunrise, making it the highest train station in Taiwan and the earliest commuting station in the country!
