Wuji Forest Introduction
Alishan was originally one of the three major lumbering areas in Taiwan, and it has since been developed into a national forest recreation area. On the shaded paths lined with ancient trees, visitors can absorb phytoncides and listen to the sounds of birds. Every year, during the flowering season, the entire mountain is adorned with colorful sea of flowers. The forest resources of Alishan encompass different climatic zones. Starting from the lowlands, one can find tropical plants such as longan, betel palm, acacia, and bamboo forests. As one ascends the mountain, the scenery transitions to warm temperate forests featuring Moso bamboo, alpine tea plantations, and jelly grass. Further up, in the temperate forests, one can see species such as Taiwan fir, Taiwan cedar, Huashan pine, and red cypress.
