Wuchi Forest Introduction
Alishan was originally one of Taiwan's three major logging areas and was later developed into a national forest recreation area. On the shaded paths lined with ancient trees, visitors can absorb phytoncides and listen to the sounds of birds. Each year, during the blooming season, the entire mountain is filled with colorful flower seas. Alishan's forest resources encompass different climatic zones. Starting from the lowland tropical plants such as longan, betel palm, acacia, and bamboo groves, the scenery changes as one ascends the mountain to subtropical forests with moso bamboo, high mountain tea plantations, and aiyu. Further up, the temperate forest features species such as Taiwan red cypress, Taiwan hinoki, Chinese red pine, and Taiwan fir.
