Xiaoganshan Introduction
Mount Ogasawara is located within Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, with an elevation of 2,488 meters. Originally named "Wansui Mountain," it was first surveyed by the Japanese colonial government's investigation team in October 1904. In honor of the contributions of team member and Chiayi magistrate Ogasawara Fujirō, the site was named Mount Ogasawara. In November 2005, the viewing platform atop the mountain was refurbished, becoming a popular spot to admire the magnificent views of Alishan. From the platform, visitors can gaze across the vast mountain ranges, welcome the sunrise in the early morning, and experience the golden sunlight illuminating the mountain peaks; in the evening, one can appreciate the beautiful scene of sunset and colorful clouds blending together, with the changing light creating a poetic landscape. Moreover, after nightfall, Mount Ogasawara becomes a paradise for stargazers, with a starry night sky that brings peace and tranquility. This century-old peak, rich in natural scenery and historical significance, is one of the new eight scenic spots of Alishan, allowing every traveler to find a piece of tranquility and inspiration here.
