Xiao Ogasawara Mountain Introduction
Mount Ogasawara is located within Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, with an elevation of 2,488 meters. Originally named "Wansui Mountain," it was first surveyed by the Taiwan Government-General's surveying team in October 1904. To commemorate the contributions of team member Fujiro Ogawahara, who was the magistrate of Chiayi, the site was named "Mount Ogasawara." In November 2005, the viewing platform on the mountain was rebuilt, becoming a popular spot for appreciating the magnificent scenery of Alishan. From the platform, visitors can gaze at the vast mountain ranges and welcome the sunrise in the morning, witnessing the golden sunlight bathing the peaks; during dusk, one can enjoy the beautiful sight of the sunset and the interplay of colorful clouds, with changing light and shadow that seems to paint a picture. Moreover, after nightfall, Mount Ogasawara is a paradise for stargazers, with a star-studded night sky that brings a sense of peace and joy. This century-old peak, rich in natural landscapes and historical significance, is one of the new eight scenic spots of Alishan, allowing every traveler to find a sense of tranquility and inspiration here.
