Meiling Art Museum Introduction
Mei Ling Art Museum is located within Zhongzheng Park in Puzi City. It was initiated in 1984 by the students of Mr. Wu Mei Ling to honor their teacher's educational spirit, promote his ideas, and facilitate the development of local art. In 1991, with the agreement of all the board members of the foundation, the incomplete building was donated to the Chiayi County Government for further construction, and on July 11, 1995, it was officially completed and opened to the public in celebration of Mr. Wu Mei Ling's centenary. Since its establishment, the Cultural Bureau of Mei Ling Art Museum has been dedicated to integrating industrial activities across Chiayi County's townships and cities, supporting the establishment of local characteristic museums, and promoting the cultural resources of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries as well as tourism. The museum also plans and assists in the establishment of public art and promotes visual art activities, aiming to facilitate grassroots cultural construction in art education. Over the years, it has organized cultural exhibitions and activities to enrich the cultural life of the community, becoming a popular destination for leisure during holidays. The museum covers an area of approximately 500 ping and can be divided into four main areas: exhibition hall, workshop classroom, collection room, and administrative area. 1. Exhibition Hall: The total area of the exhibition hall is about 350 ping, divided into the first-floor exhibition room and the second-floor exhibition room, suitable for exhibitions of painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, and artifacts. 2. Workshop Classroom: The workshop classroom is located in the basement of the museum, providing a space for the public to learn calligraphy, painting, sculpture, ceramics courses, and volunteer training. 3. Collection Room: The collection room is located on the second floor of the museum, mainly housing the paintings of the centenarian Mr. Wu Mei Ling. 4. Administrative Area: The administrative area is located on the left side of the museum entrance, serving as the place for administrative management and office work.
