Shihfen Forest Farm Introduction
Shizilin Forest is located at the foot of the Ali Mountain range, situated on Tongtou Mountain in Zhongpu Township, Chiayi County. This secret forest in Chiayi County covers an area of over 30 hectares and is classified as a rural natural ecological area, with altitudes ranging from 300 meters to over 600 meters. The entire area belongs to a subtropical broadleaf forest, flourishing along the banks of Shinong Stream. The park boasts diverse and rich ecological resources, with common plants including a variety of ground cover plants, ferns, lotus flowers, Taiwan acacia, peach heart wood, camphor trees, and banyan trees. Endangered species such as the Crested Serpent Eagle, Taiwan Thrush, and Five-colored Bird can also often be seen along the hiking trails. Another distinctive feature of the park is that landmarks are marked with stone carvings, with each stone sculpture indicating an elevation increase of five hundred meters while also providing information about the local ecological distribution. The forest area belongs to the subtropical broadleaf forest. Its rich ecological resources boast biodiversity, including ground cover plants, ferns, Taiwan acacia, peach heart wood, camphor trees, banyan trees, azaleas, and ixoras. Bird species include eagles, Taiwan Blue Magpies, Treepies, Oriental White-eyes, Black-breasted Blue Thrushes, Scarlet Minivets, Little Forktails, and Five-colored Birds. The hiking trail is paved with raw wood, presenting a varied and natural landscape, with interpretation boards set up along the way to help visitors connect with nature. As one walks down the trail, continuous surprises await, and those who look carefully will certainly reap great rewards.
