Fengshan Ecological Park Introduction
The park covers an area of about ten hectares and is home to more than a hundred species of plants, all focused on natural ecology with the aim of preserving the natural landscape and ecosystem. As a result, many natural organisms inhabit the area, including the firefly season from March to April, and from June to July, visitors can observe the flight of stag beetles at night. Surrounded by mahogany trees, there is a fish pond where, under the gentle evening breeze, mahogany leaves and the leaves of a hundred-year-old eucalyptus tree fall gracefully, creating a breathtaking backdrop against the sunset. The park cultivates many exotic flowers and fruits, among which is the Brazilian grumichama, commonly known as "tree grape." The grumichama is native to Brazil and is an evergreen woody plant that bears fruit in spring and autumn each year. The fruit is large and round, with an average sweetness level of thirteen to seventeen degrees, making it deliciously sweet. It can be fermented into wine with an alcohol content that can reach forty-eight degrees, possessing the unique fragrance of grapes. Because tree grapes are extremely rare in Taiwan, many people would mistakenly think they are regular grapes just by looking at the fruit's appearance. However, they taste fragrant and sweet with a completely different texture from grapes, being refreshing and rich in nutritional value. In addition to the unique grumichama, the park also features tropical native plants such as rambutan from Southeast Asia, the Indian curry tree, Pacific olives, Mauritius serrated guava, and powder puff flowers. To complement tourism and develop leisure agriculture, the future goal is to establish the park as an ecological area for native tree species.
