Fengshan Ecological Park Introduction
The park covers an area of about ten hectares and boasts over a hundred types of plants. The area is centered around natural ecology, with the goal of preserving the natural landscape and ecosystem. As a result, many natural organisms inhabit the area, including fireflies during the season from March to April, and the sight of beetles flying at night can be observed in June and July. There is also a fish pond surrounded by mahogany trees where, in the gentle evening breeze, leaves from the mahogany and eucalyptus trees, some of which are over a hundred years old, fall gracefully, creating a stunning backdrop against the setting sun. The park features many exotic flowers and fruits, including a species commonly known as "tree grape," or the Brazilian guava. This fruit is native to Brazil and is also referred to as "tree grape." It is a perennial woody plant that produces fruit twice a year, in spring and autumn. The fruits are large and round, with an average sweetness of thirteen to seventeen degrees, making them delicious and flavorful. They can be fermented into wine with an alcohol concentration of up to forty-eight degrees and have a unique grape aroma. Since tree grapes are extremely rare in Taiwan, most people would mistakenly think they are ordinary grapes just by their appearance. However, the taste is sweet and fragrant, completely different from grapes; they are not only refreshing but also highly nutritious. In addition to the unique guava, the park also showcases tropical native plants such as rambutan from Southeast Asia, the pepper tree from India, Pacific olives, Mauritius guava, and powder puff flowers. To promote tourism and develop recreational agriculture, the future goal is to establish the park as an ecological area of native tree species.
