Fengshan Ecological Park Introduction
This park covers an area of about ten hectares and is home to over a hundred species of plants. The park focuses on natural ecology and aims to preserve the natural landscape and ecosystem, making it a habitat for many natural organisms. During the firefly season from March to April, visitors can witness the enchanting display of fireflies, and in June and July, the rhinoceros beetles can be seen flying at night. There's also a fish pond surrounded by mahogany trees, where the gentle evening breeze causes the mahogany leaves and the leaves of a century-old eucalyptus tree to fall, creating a stunning scene complemented by the setting sun. The park cultivates many exotic flowers and fruits, including a species commonly known as "tree grape," the Brazilian jaboticaba. Originating from Brazil, the jaboticaba, which is also called tree grape, is an evergreen woody plant that fruits in both spring and autumn. The large, round fruits can reach an average sweetness of thirteen to seventeen degrees, making them deliciously sweet; they can be fermented into wine with an alcohol content of up to forty-eight degrees and possess the characteristic aroma of grapes. Since tree grapes are extremely rare in Taiwan, many people might mistakenly think they are ordinary grapes just based on their appearance if they are not seen in a fruit orchard. However, they are fragrant, sweet, and have a completely different texture from grapes, being refreshing and sweet while also having high nutritional value. In addition to the unique jaboticaba, there are also tropical native plants such as rambutan from Southeast Asia, the spiny tree from India, Pacific olive, the Mauritius guava, and the powder puff flower. With many native tropical plants, the future goal is to develop the park into an ecological area of native tree species to enhance tourism and promote leisure agriculture.
