Pengwan Cross-Sea Bridge Introduction

The scenic bridge at the exit of Dapeng Bay, in the Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area, was completed and opened to traffic in March 2011. It is the country's first open scenic bridge designed to accommodate the entry and exit of sailing boats. In the future, it will be integrated with the BOT yacht harbor construction to allow large sailing vessels to enter and exit, developing international-level yacht and marine activities, further forming a "golden triangle" for yacht activities alongside Kaohsiung's Love River sightseeing dock. The Dapeng Bay Cross-Sea Bridge spans 579 meters in length and is 30 meters wide. The main tower reaches a height of 71 meters above the water surface, with the bridge’s highest point 17 meters above the water (the water span is about 70 meters), and it opens a gap of 20 meters to meet the needs of various recreational vessels. The bridge features a single-tower asymmetric single-surface cable-stayed design, distinctive for its three-dimensional shape (unlike the typical two-dimensional bridge shapes). From the front, it resembles a mythical bird holding something in its beak, from the side it looks like a bending girl, and from the back, it resembles the letter "A." The moving bridge surface can open to a 75-degree angle in just 2 minutes, with a bridge-opening show available every Saturday at 5 PM. At night, the bridge is illuminated, providing not only a beautiful landscape image but also serving as a landmark for marine operations and recreational vessels.
