Lagoon Introduction
The only single-cone lagoon landscape in Taiwan is found in Dapeng Bay, with a water area of approximately 3,500 meters in length and about 1,800 meters in width. The lagoon covers an area of over 532 hectares, with water depths ranging from 2 to 6 meters. The formation of the lagoon's topography is attributed to the deposition of sediments carried by the Donggang River and the Linbian River from upstream, which, through tidal and monsoon actions, formed a long strip of sand and gravel known as a "sand spit" outside the bay. This effectively separated the original bay from the open sea, leaving only a gap, which is the current lagoon topography of Dapeng Bay.
